Gray Image = Switching between cameras, or communications with the ISS is not available. No Audio = Normal. There is no audio on purpose. Add your own soundtrack. For a display of the real time ISS location plus the HDEV imagery, visit here: http://eol.jsc.nasa.gov/HDEV/ The High Definition Earth Viewing (HDEV) experiment aboard the ISS was activated April 30, 2014. It is mounted on the External Payload Facility of the European Space Agency’s Columbus module. This experiment includes several commercial HD video cameras aimed at the earth which are enclosed in a pressurized and temperature controlled housing. Video from these cameras is transmitted back to earth and also streamed live on this channel. While the experiment is operational, views will typically sequence though the different cameras. Between camera switches, a gray and then black color slate will briefly appear. Since the ISS is in darkness during part of each orbit, the images will be dark at those times. During periods of loss of signal with the ground or when HDEV is not operating, a gray color slate or previously recorded video may be seen. 6
ICTDirect_Dave Posted May 7, 2014 Posted May 7, 2014 Bit boring right now, but promises to be great later on today!
Grey-gear Posted May 7, 2014 Posted May 7, 2014 Though it can be hard to make out what you are looking at it is pretty cool.
ICTDirect_Dave Posted May 7, 2014 Posted May 7, 2014 Everyone in the office currently has this up! It's compulsive viewing! The shot looking at tunisia and italy about half an hour ago was particularly good!
6Foot2 Posted May 7, 2014 Author Posted May 7, 2014 It's black.... Can't see a thing! From the first post: ***QUICK NOTES ABOUT HDEV VIDEO*** Black Image = International Space Station (ISS) is on the night side of the Earth. Gray Image = Switching between cameras, or communications with the ISS is not available...
ICTDirect_Dave Posted May 7, 2014 Posted May 7, 2014 Just about to come out of the shoadow and into morning...
abillybob Posted May 7, 2014 Posted May 7, 2014 (edited) I dont like the fact they keep switching the cameras! It should just be a view of the earth! IMO I want to see something mental happen like it starts falling towards the earth and ends up in my school car park! Edited May 7, 2014 by abillybob
ICTDirect_Dave Posted May 7, 2014 Posted May 7, 2014 I admit I'd prefer to be able to choose my camera, but they're all pointing at us and each view give some stunning shots in it's own time.
cobra427col Posted May 7, 2014 Posted May 7, 2014 Another waste of the schools internet bandwidth - BRING IT ON!!! I used to love watching the shuttle launches on NASA TV
ICTDirect_Dave Posted May 8, 2014 Posted May 8, 2014 Isn't it just. should be coming up on the south coast UK in a few mins.
SiliconAlley_Sam Posted May 8, 2014 Posted May 8, 2014 Can't stop watching. I was hooked on Chris Hadfield's Twitter feed while he was up there as well. Just breath-taking!
