Does anyone use an electronic voting system to allow parents to vote in Parent Governor Elections? If so can you recommend a system?

google forms would be good and give percentage charts etc.

how would you ensure only eligible people were voting (ie parents)?

We looked at it last month and contemplated using Google Forms, but how you would stop people voting more than once etc, meant we didn't bother in the end and just sent out paper ballot papers.

We have run a votes. We generate unique, random tokens and issue them to the electorate via email or paper mail. We constructed a simple php webpage to allow the token to be recorded against a vote. We simplified data collection by allowing multiple votes in the data, only the last instance of the token was counted when the data was analysed.

Nice as it would be to use electronic votes, parent governor elections are bound by strict legal rules (I am a Chair of Governors). There is a reason that electronic voting is not widespread around the world; if it was easy then everyone would do it.

Your clerk to the governors should be running the election and should stick to traditional paper ballot methods at the moment.
