bensewell Posted October 25, 2007 Posted October 25, 2007 Hiya, Is there any way to make a new XP CD with all the MS updates on it so i've not got to run all the MS updates when i re-install Windows on a PC? Cheers, Ben
FN-GM Posted October 25, 2007 Posted October 25, 2007 Yes if you install XP on a machine, download updates and install what you want and with this software you can make a slipstream disc that will make a bootable installation disc of windows XP. http://www.nliteos.com/
mac_shinobi Posted October 25, 2007 Posted October 25, 2007 slipstream your orignial windows xp disc with SP3 ? As per above I am guessing
randle Posted October 25, 2007 Posted October 25, 2007 nLite is fantastic. I've used this many times and should be exaclty what your after. Use this in conjunction with RyanVM's update packages found at http://www.ryanvm.net/msfn/updatepack.html
bensewell Posted October 25, 2007 Author Posted October 25, 2007 Spot on will give it all a try and see what happens, looks good though so far. Cheers, Ben
DMcCoy Posted October 25, 2007 Posted October 25, 2007 nLite doesn't work with sysprep due to signing issues. It's also only for personal use when you read the license :|
Halfmad Posted October 25, 2007 Posted October 25, 2007 nLite is fantastic. I've used this many times and should be exaclty what your after. Use this in conjunction with RyanVM's update packages found at http://www.ryanvm.net/msfn/updatepack.html Ryan's silent installers save me a lot of work
bensewell Posted October 25, 2007 Author Posted October 25, 2007 I might give Ryan's silent installer a try if nlite is frowned on for education use. I'll give it a whirl. Thanks for all your help, much appreciated!
randle Posted October 25, 2007 Posted October 25, 2007 RyanVM's packages are meant for use with nLite to make a slipstreamed/unattended install CD. As far as i'm aware you can't use the packages on their own. There are other alternatives to nLite just google "slipstream windows"
bensewell Posted October 25, 2007 Author Posted October 25, 2007 I get it now at least i know where to start / google up
sidewinder Posted October 28, 2007 Posted October 28, 2007 nLite doesn't work with sysprep due to signing issues. It's also only for personal use when you read the license :| In what way? Ive got a nlite'ed and ryanvm'ed CD that I use for all images in school, and sysprep works perfectly
DMcCoy Posted October 28, 2007 Posted October 28, 2007 If you are just using it for patches it will probably work. When removing some components after sysprep it starts looking for files that already exist, its just a few but it interupts sysprep.
