You have a flexiable memory stick, not as secure as some as the biometric (finger print) ones we use for sensitive data, but for just the odds and sods, it's ideal!

My first PC (1981) was a homebrew Nascom 2; it came with 1k (yes, that's 1024 bytes) of RAM which was OK for machine code but not enough for BASIC. For that you needed 8k. I can't remember how much that cost but I do remember having to save up for it so it would have been a lot more than £15!!!

I remember having to pay £70 back in 1993 for 2MB RAM.........that doubled the RAM in the 386MHz PC I was using at work at the time! Ah, Windows 3.11............

If where doing this then, my first PC was a windows 95se, with a P3 processor and 64/128 (cannot remember) MB of RAMM, it was a Dell G1, NOT a GX, but a G.

Well my first foray into programming (Basic) was back in 1984 on my trusty rubber-keyed Sinclair Spectrum. I still have it somewhere & it still works. Sad or what?

Got to admit I'm sad as I love it when threads get to the stage of I remember when

 

and on that note my first 'proper' computer cost me £400 and was an XT PC with 512KB or Ram. then after a 386 I bought my first laptop a 386sx (i.e. you had to buy the maths coprocessor seperately which of course I did!), it came with a whopping 1Mb or Ram which I eventually upgraded to a staggering 5Mb for the princely sum of another £400. Incidentally I bought a Cannon BJ10sx mono printer to go with it, which I still have after having sold it once to someone then when they changed to a modern colour printer I got it given back and I still use it every so often when I need to take a printer away with me! Think I'd better stop there..... :oops:

My "first PC" was one that my dad had bought when i was very young (possibly before i was born, i don't quite know) it was an amstrad CPC.

 

Green monitor and completely controlled from the keyboard like most PCs of the time...all the circuitry was underneath your fingers . Had a 2.something inch floppy disk drive...no hard drives obviously. I can't remember the specs but i do know it had a lovely IBM dot matrix printer and some old serial joystick

 

Paperboy was such an awesome game.

Our 1st computer was an Amiga A500+ (ComboRacer and Duel Test Drive 2 ) but the 1st PC was a mitac 386 with 8mb of ram an WfW 3.11, this was surplus equipment from my dad's work, and lasted for ages untill we got a Time IBM 350mhz with 64Mb RAM and a 6.4 Gb HDD

I remember some 10 years ago buying memory for £10+ per meg. The 16M of EDO I bought cost somewhere aroung £170. Imagine the cost of memory now at those prices! £40,000 for the SD card

First computer I used was a BBC Model B which my dad gave me in around 1990

Then I had an IBM 386, no idea how much memory it had, all I knew was how to load a few games from DOS

 

First computer I had that I actually started to fiddle with was an unbranded 486DX 66 which had 16MB RAM and was later upgraded with a 2x CD Drive and Soundblaster 16 card

 

Then I had an AST Pentium 100 with 64MB RAM, which unbelievably lasted me until 2000 when I started college

mmm jolly Amiga 500+ I still have mine in full working order with about 140 games. All I need a Quickshot joystick for it as we managed to loose them when we moved house. Wasn't my first PC though, that was a C64
