GRitchie Posted March 19, 2014 Posted March 19, 2014 Hello, So I'm setting up WDS, it's all configured etc. however I wish to create ONE image for lots of different machines. Well, two; Pupil and Staff. I want it to domain, ask what to name it and then run the image! Is there any way of doing this using WDS? If so, please can someone help me with it! Thanks.
GRitchie Posted March 19, 2014 Author Posted March 19, 2014 Hello, do I install this on the same server as WDS? Also, does the 2013 toolkit run on 2008R2?
sted Posted March 19, 2014 Posted March 19, 2014 you can install it on the wds server but you dont have to yes the 2013 version runs on 08r2
GRitchie Posted March 19, 2014 Author Posted March 19, 2014 I've configured this, how do I ensure it will run when booting from PXE?
sted Posted March 19, 2014 Posted March 19, 2014 generate a boot image in mdt and add that to your wds server boot images
GRitchie Posted March 19, 2014 Author Posted March 19, 2014 Might sound like a silly question, boot how do I go about generating the boot image within MDT? It created the .XML file?

It created the .XML file? on the left right click your deployment share and click update deployment share. then go to mdt add a boot image of probably d:\deploymentshare\boot\LiteTouchPE_x64.wim

sted Posted March 19, 2014 Posted March 19, 2014 I'm still slightly confused, is this in WDS I do this? no in mdt. Thatbgenerates a boot image for your mdt deploymentshare which youn add to wds so you can boot into it
GRitchie Posted March 19, 2014 Author Posted March 19, 2014 no in mdt. Sorry, do you have an email address? It might be a bit easier - that's if you're happier to help!
snagrat Posted March 19, 2014 Posted March 19, 2014 To clarify MDT is separate from WDS. WDS is only used to distribute the PXE boot image. The rest is done with MDT including injecting drivers, task sequences and automation. 1

I always assumed it was just an add-on for WDS!
