So I've just dropped the last of the Digital Blue cameras into the bin *air punch* but we need a replacement.

Anyone got any recommendations for camcorders for primary kids to use? :)

We've just bought a bunch of Panasonic DMC-F5 cameras (actual model number to search for might also be DMC-F5EB). These were around £40 from Tesco Outlet selling on eBay - cameras sold in Tesco stores and then returned, nothing wrong with them, all worked fine. We bought Eye-Fi Pro cards (another £50 each) for each camera and a spare USB charger and charging cable, so total cost around £100 per camera. The cameras are simple to use (point them at stuff, take photos or videos), without too many controls or settings to get in the way, and they charge via USB. With the Eye-Fi wireless cards the photos and videos transfer straight to our file server, so there's no messing around with swapping cards around.

Did you purchase any cameras after this discussion and have any positive / negative experiences? It is something that I am now looking at for our children doing interviews with authors for the Guardian website. At the moment we will have to use our class cameras which aren't great for picking up sound.

No, actually they didn't show up in anyone's budget requests as I expected so didn't go any further with this. Wonder when people will notice we no longer have any video cameras...?
