MkII Posted October 17, 2007 Posted October 17, 2007 I know this is a DNS problem, but it's affecting my new SIMS server dunno how, but most clients are picking up a bad IP, and refusing to map to the new server I've tried ipconfig /flushdns but that doesn't work - on bothe clients and server. The DNS pointers seem to be correct too mapping via IP SIMS gives the error: "invalid login: reason 2" Soms machines are working after several re-boots
localzuk Posted October 17, 2007 Posted October 17, 2007 What do you have as your record for the server on the DNS server? As this would be the place to check surely?
MkII Posted October 17, 2007 Author Posted October 17, 2007 thanks localzuk That record points to the correct IP??
Jawloms Posted October 17, 2007 Posted October 17, 2007 Have you checked the machines which are resolving the wrong address for a HOSTS file?
MkII Posted October 17, 2007 Author Posted October 17, 2007 looking at WINS THAT has a pointer to the wrong IP - is it correct to just delete the entry? - as I can't seem to edit it??
MkII Posted October 17, 2007 Author Posted October 17, 2007 Did a scavenge of the WINS database and it seems to be working now - just checking
MkII Posted October 17, 2007 Author Posted October 17, 2007 Still had a problem with a few local copies of connect.ini pointing to the server name instead of s:\sims - just going to push out the correct version to everyone
