Can someone test this please?

When we try to view online magazines on ISSUU using IE9 the pages takes minutes to load!

 

eg.

ISSUU - IC Journal 16 by Inter Cars Romania

 

When we try the same page using firefox or chrome it works straight away.

 

Can someone with IE9 try and access the above link please and let me know if it loads or if the issue is with our setup?

 

We are on the latest version of flash...

 

We also have an on-site smoothwall....

Works fine here on IE9 and IE10.

 

Its a bit slow, dont get me wrong but not minutes to load (took no more than 30 seconds to load up)

Just tested on a PC with IE 10 and it also takes ages for the page to render....

Can you test with another browser?

 

It's taking our IE browsers about 4 minutes....

tested now on a few machines.

 

Windows XP and Windows 7

 

Running Chrome, FF, Safari or IE

 

IE takes the longest to load out of the browsers, and this is across XP and 7. Otherwise they all work ok.

Got exactly the same problem using a staff account and this site has been unblocked, no reports from the Smoothwall box to state why?

Yes we are using a smoothwall, but if we change to our standard SWGfL proxy it's the same!

 

Going to have to create a test user and PC and strip off all our Group Policies to see if some lockdown setting is causing it...

Fine in IE 11 and Chrome on Win 8.1

 

However! It took a four minutes to open in IE 10 on Win 7.

 

Same proxy/filtering (Smoothwall)/group policies. Odd one that.

Just ran it via another test user bypassing the proxy and it works instantly on IE9,

 

It does rather point to Smoothwall being the problem as we both use it don't you think?

Moved a PC to an OU with no policies applied.

Moved a USER to an OU with no policies applied.

 

Set manually the proxy to swgfl.org.uk bypassing the smoothwall.

 

Pages on ISSUU still take around 2 minutes to load, this is on IE10

Just put IE11 on a test PC (no policies) and it opens the pages INSTANTLY! even using the smoothwall as the proxy!

Just loaded in Chrome without much delay: Maybe 10 seconds?

I had something similar a while back. During the usual "what the heck, lets just try it anyway" stage of any good diagnositc process I found that changing the proxy settings on the client from a hostname to the IP address fixed it. No Idea why, no idea if it will work in this instance but it would only take 15 secs to try it. Worth a stab I'd say.

 

Update: Took about 6 secs on IE9, just over 30 secs if I change to the proxy server's hostname. Still can't explain it. One day when I've caught up with all my jobs I'll look into it.
