chazzy2501 Posted February 21, 2014 Posted February 21, 2014 Every time I think of upgrading I remind myself that my 5 y/o 1GB HD4870 & 3GHz core duo runs dead island2 at full spec... I think because all games are ported from xbox360s and ps3 they all look and run great when ported to PC. The xbone is less powerful than the new 750Ti so I don't see a time when I feel the need to upgrade..

BF4 I contend with anywhere from 15FPS upto 40FPS depending on what is on the screen at that time. Last night with @Domino and @ZeroHour, I had to pretty much hide all round of Metro because my GFX card couldn't cope. I am at the point if I want to play anything current on better than low, then I need to upgrade. Once I do this, I wont be upgrading for atleast 3-4 years. (My current card was purchased from new in November 2009)

The case temp from the card alone hits around 70-80C when it is maxed.

Arctic MX-2 vs Silver 5 - Overclockers UK Forums AS5 takes 200 hours to cure though, so you will have to wait that time to get its best performance, MX2 dos'nt need curing time, and works instantly at its max level. So basically id just get MX2.

featured_spectre Posted February 21, 2014 Author Posted February 21, 2014 Idle it is very low (dont think it hits even 30C) but under full load it just gets hot. I had to take the side of my case OFF to allow good airflow to ensure it didn't get too hot. 1

GPUs are designed to operate at much higher temps than CPUs are. Most cards nowadays are quite hot (high end ones anyway) @Arthur / @ZeroHour - Moral of the story is, if you want to get a few or more NVidia GTX Titans ( black edition or not ) or even a similar card ie GTX 780 ti etc SLI'ed together - to ensure you have some where very very cold to store the base unit as it will be pumping out at least 80 degrees C per card under full load Failing that have a small room with a very good air con unit just for the base unit and the relevant cabling coming out of the room ie video ( DVI ), audio , keyboard and mouse unless you have wireless / cordless ones ie bluetooth or whatever.
