RISO Printing/Copiers - Views and Opinions

Morning All

 

I am in the final stages of sorting out our managed print contract. I have the fail - safe options of the ESPO-GPS government contracts but RISO have come in a and mixed the jar a bit.

 

I have done some research into their devices, whilst the 125 PPM sounds impressive I have heard that the quality sometimes leaves something to be desired.

 

I just wondering some anyone have any opinions on this, Is it extremely noticeable or is it hardly noticeable and the cost outweighs the slightly lower quality

If its anything like the colour produced by the RISO I had demonstrated a few years back(1p/page) the colours were generally washed out and far from sharp. Hopefully its improved since then though.

 

I'd get them to send you a few example prints or see one in action

Hi,

We have had 3 of them for a few months now. It's been an interesting learning curve to say the least.

We are only up in Birmingham if you want to come and see them in action.

It depends on what quality you want.

Also, if you print duplex you will get bleeding through to the other side of the paper with standard 80gsm paper.

I wouldn't compare them with a copier really - they're more of a print duplicator, so not quite as sharp, in my experience.

 

Personally, I'd speak to Ricoh under the Crescent Consortium pricing scheme (it applies to schools too - our copiers are under it, and the pricing was half the price of competitors).

Actually had the Van out showing the latest model. I must admit I was impressed. Yes as you say there is some bleed through, but I quite honestly thought for worksheets, mock exams and letters home it would be more than adequate.

 

I am looking at weighing up the higher rental costs of lower click costs. Personally if I mix it with toner based MFD's I could have the best of both worlds.

We have 2 of them - the 3050 and 3010 ComColor.

We are more than happy with them. For everyday stuff teachers print for school use, they are more than adequate. Print quality and color is good and they are fast and cheap to run (about 0.9p for col and 0.3p for bw).

We do all our school flyers, news letters and other general info on them and they are ideal. We only use other HP laser for 'official' stuff.

 

The only time they are out of order is paper jams, otherwise they just keep going. Support is good and always fast and friendly. Toner/ink orders are done automatically from the machine, so we dont need to worry about that, but if you do phone an order thru it's delivered next day.

 

Would def recommend.
