I have been asked to enable mouse trail for an SEN pupil, I cannot see how this can be done easily. THe pupil uses different computers/laptops

I cannot see how I could do this from GPO/RMMC

Any advice/help please.

You would need a PowerShell script to set the registry and use the API to reset the cursor and update it with the new preferences from the registry. Then you would need a script to revert the changes back to default. Put these two as log on / log off scripts in a GPO where the scope is that single user or an mouse trails security group.

See here about making the script:

Use PowerShell to Change the Mouse Pointer Scheme - Hey, Scripting Guy! Blog - Site Home - TechNet Blogs

FYI: The reg key for mouse trails is located in HKCU\Control Panel\Mouse

Hope this helps!

Isn't mouse trails included in accessability options? RMMC User/properties/rights/. That would be a roaming profile setting so it would follow the student round and not affect anyone else who uses the computer after them. I'll try it and get back to you, I know it enable screen magnifier, sticky keys etc , just not sure about Mouse trails. Just remember that if you ever reset their profile it would need to be switched on again (by the user not in RMMC).

EDIT: Yes, once Accessability options are turned on the student can go into control Panel/Mouse/pointer Options and switch it on. It's a policy change so it takes effect at the next log in.
