Ruckus AP's & POE injectors

Hi,

 

I recently switched from using some Netgear wireless stuff to the excellent Ruckus gear. Problem is the poe injectors I was using (axis poe midspan) seem to reboot the aps constantly.I have Netgear switches and the Netgear GS724TSP-200EUS never worked with my vlan settings (I have some other POEs running some Netgear kit instead of using the Netgear switch)

 

Can anyone recommend me some decent POE injectors... or a decent Netgear switch with POE capabilities.

 

I have a case logged with Netgear about the POE problem but haven't had the time to follow it up or I might not need them.

There's a couple of different POE standards. What standard of PoE do the injectors provide, and what type is the AP asking for? (I can't even generalise on the Ruckus APs, as different models use different standards).

That's a good question. I never checked that.

Previous to using POE switches, we used Ruckus' own POE Injectors.

Hi

We use both netgear and ruckus . All of our PoE switches are GS724TP - latest firmware. We did have an issue similar to yours on a previous firmware.

 

We have 4 vlans (4 SSIDs) on ports 1-10 for our Ruckus APs with 11-20 used for our Mitel VOIP handsets (different VLAN) with 23/24 as a LAG with the 5 VLANs plus our management VLAN.

 

On average our PoE switches use 5 ports for Ruckus and 7 for our mitel, but it is just easier to standardise all the switches to 1-10 WiFi , 11-20 Phones as we have 12 of these switches.

 

Also I've got about 10-15 un-used and unopened gigabit PoE injectors if you want a handful to test?

Do check the total PoE budgets on your Netgear Switches, they are limited and you can easily overload them especially with the newer multi band Access Points that want 802.at power not .af

We dont have any PoE switches but with the ruckus kit we have we are using the TPLINK Gigabit PoE injectors. We have 12 of them in school and not one problem with any of them. You need to make sure you get the black version of these though as they do the 100mbps one with the same part code.. TP-Link PoE Injector Adapter (TL-PoE150S) - www.misco.co.uk
