Makes sense and given the years of awareness campaigns that MS have been running regarding the death of XP, it shows above and beyond due care for their customers IMO. They won't be making any money from this move.

This costs a minimum of $200 per PC. Microsoft will still patch Windows XP for a select group « PC World

People and companies after the financial meltdown don't or can't invest in shiny new kit as often as they would like. I was in a firm of solicitors the other week and all their clients were Windows XP - nearly 100 of them. The IT bod was saying they'd keep going until they were pushed and then probably only to Win7.

Arcath Posted January 17, 2014 Posted January 17, 2014 (edited) I just put a new PC into a Ford Dealership running Win7 SP1 with IE11 and all the updates and they have contacted Ford asking for the software that lets them price up and sell new cars to be put on again only to be told that the system only works in IE5.5 (Although they had IE6 on the last PC) @Arthur You say that but it still comes as a shock to some of my schools, some of them get very annoyed that Microsoft "can get away with it" Edited January 17, 2014 by Arcath
