Lethbridge 10k in Swindon last night. Nice bit of mud in a nice local race for me. One of the first events I did after the Couch to 5K in May/June 2013 and so it helps with showing progress :

2013 C25K like a dehydrated womble

2014 1hr 1min 11secs

2015 56:26

2016 52:58

Chippenham Longest Day 10k next Wednesday evening

Did the "Round the Resers" run last night in Tintwistle. Two laps around the middle one of three reservoirs approx 8km/5miles distance. Probably as close as I get to a trail race. Nice run, with one killer hill (which you obviously have to do twice!).

Took 30 seconds off my time from last year, but still got lapped by the guy who won it about 20 metres from the end of the first lap (same place as last year)!!!

Did the proper park run route yesterday evening with a time of just over 36 minutes. Felt a lot more worn out than before - not 100% sure why. Breathing felt a little easier than before! Will be doing the actual park run event come 2nd July!

Did a nice 5km last night as part of the "Sale Sizzlers" series of running events (one every two weeks for the next couple of months). Really nice flat course, bit damp last night but pleased with a 27 minute 22 second finish time, not a million miles away from my PB at 5km. Hopefully get a bit more into running again now hayfever season is drawing to a close, and will get that pb down to 26 minutes 30 seconds at the next run of the series and maybe down to close to the 25 minute mark by the end of the series :-)

I've knocked my running down due to hayfever. Went for a 5miler on Wednesday and the hilly bits nearly did for me; utterly awful. Will be doing that route again over the next few weeks I think to try and see some improvements.

First standalone swimming event tomorrow (ie not a tri-athlon) - doing the 1mile option on the Big Cotswold Swim

Training will then start for the Dublin Marathon 30th October

I've been growing increasingly irritated using my phone to track my running. Strava on the iPhone just never seems to get it right (when I did my half marathon earlier in the year it said I did the first 3km in 10 minutes!!)....So I splashed out over the weekend.....

Bought myself a Garmin Forerunner 235 :-) Hopefully ease my frustrations and get me back on track :-)

did the 1mile open water swim on Saturday. Very different from running - the start is an absolutely terrifying melee as people enter the water and head for the first marker buoy; bumping, bashing each other and gulping in water from the churned up lake.

Opted to stay at the back and focus on getting around rather than getting a good time. Came in 74th out of 109 - I expected to be nearer the tail. The downside of swimming a bit wide to avoid others is that my watch says I swam 1.49miles instead of 1.

Time to change focus back to running now.

I'm eyeing up the litter brother - the forerunner 25! Probably will wait until a sale turns up :)

Decided that in the school hols I'll run in twice a week to start with, with an aim of doing it three days for the last 2 weeks. 4.5km each way, and if I feel knackered at the end of the day I can just walk home instead! Just means I need to be a bit more organised with leaving a couple of change of clothes in the shower here. I had thought of running with a rucksack but wasn't sure on it!

First run out with the Garmin last night, nice 5km run, nothing too strenuous :-)

How did you find the accuracy compared to your phone?

It looks pretty good from a first test, it took a little while for the GPS to lock on and for some reason it's not syncing with Strava (think I've set it up correctly), but the stats it's given me look good.

Sorry to hijack: whilst your putting your trainers on etc. Turn your watch on and put it in the window to pick satellites up before you set off. :-)

Thank you :-) Will have to try and remember that :-)

Nice little 5km run last night and the Garmin is now syncing to Strava!! :-)

Took the advice and set it checking for satellites just as i was putting on my shoes, very pleased with how it worked last night :-)

Did my first run from home to school yesterday to have a benchmark time to compare with, will run from work to home one evening this week or at weekend to have a benchmark time there too. 4.6km each way, bit hillier than what I have been playing with before! 32 mins is the time to beat... planning on running to/from work at least 2x a week in the hols :)

Good effort if you do that :-) I quite often try cycling during the summer but give up after about 2 weeks

3rd week in I'm off for a week so hopefully that doesn't blow it!

first run in 3 weeks yesterday. A cold wouldn't clear off the chest and sinuses and just made the thought of running extremely unattractive.

Managed to do just over 3miles in just over 29minutes. Went further than originally intended and didn't feel too bad. A few runs more runs this week should help clear things up a bit hopefully.

I did my first 5k in nearly a year last Tuesday !!! Probably not teh best evening to do it but nonetheless. I did a 37:05 which i thought was ok given the temperature and the fact I hadn't done one since August last year. Still going out with the Mrs on her C25K runs and she's just started week 4 and really loving it so I'm pleased with that.

Did my first set to and from school (4.6km each way). In was okay, home which is a harder run (over double the elevation gained) was really hard, had to walk more than I wanted to :(

Need to get myself back on track with my running so I've signed up to the Wigan 10k. Did the race last year and set a new PB at the time, nice course, great atmosphere so looking forward to running it again :-)

5 weeks of training ahead :-)

after hay fever and then a bad chest cold, I'm hobbling off onto the injured list. Plantar fasciitis - sharp pains in my left heel like I'm stepping on a drawing pin in bare feet.

Think that means there is no chance of doing the Dublin Marathon this year.
