Real men wear pink :-)

Had to wear a pink swim cap at Eton Dorney the other week. Not my finest look :(

Completed Lethbridge 10k last night in time of 56:26 (1:01:11 last year) with full mile times coming in at 9:14 8:33 8:53 9:32 9:32 9:03

Ran something a bit different last night :-)

It was called "Round the Resers" and was in Tintwistle near Glossop. Approximately 300 people, running round a reservoir. Very picturesque and great fun :-) 8.2km (5 miles) total distance, consisting of 2 laps of an off road course with 1 killer hill (which obviously you have to run twice!) and a bit more undulation. Finishing time, by my watch, approximately 50 minutes 30 seconds which is only a couple of minutes outside of my regular road 8km, so I was pretty pleased with the time :-)

Given all my running up to this point has been road running it was a nice change to do something a bit different. Only disappointment was I was lapped as I was about 100m from finishing the first lap and also that I didn't finish in the first 200 (the first 200 finishers won a mug!), but on the positive side, I ran the whole thing (in what was a very different run for me) and was pleased with the finishing time :-)

Nice one Iain, sounds like hard work :)

started to up the number of runs per week (but not distance yet) in preparation for the Dublin Marathon on 26th October. Alcohol is now completely off the list of approved products :(

not sure I'd want to put too many action shots on here - some of my facial expressions when running are not for public viewing :)

Did the RunJericho 10k in Oxford last Sunday morning (58 mins 42secs) and the Chippenham Longest Day 10k on Wednesday evening (56mins 33secs). Both very hot/muggy but good turnouts and well organised.

9.3mile training run set for very early on Saturday morning ready for the Ridgeway Relay on 5th July.

Have signed up for the PUMA Challenge on The Running Bug which starts on 1st July. Game based running. #TeamDrive

have been upping the mileage to tie in with the RunningBug Puma Challenge and for the marathon in October. A couple of short runs and several 10milers. Completed my longest run yesterday in terms of distance and time spent running - 16.14miles in 2hours 59minutes 42seconds. Feeling pretty good today. Not a great pace but happy to have done the distance.

I felt the same first time I did 13.1 miles. Signed up for one in December and panicking about not being able to do it. Had a day off work and decided I'd do my usual 10k... twice (and a bit)... Really wasn't fit enough to do it but wanted to say I'd finally done a half marathon distance. Took me just under three hours and walked half of it but just wanted to know no matter what I could at least finish it in December. Working on bringing that time down to at least 2.30.

did just over 3 miles last night as my first run since Saturday. Went for a faster pace than I've been doing of late and did OK despite the muggy air. Will probably do the same again tonight.

Air Tattoo at Fairford this weekend so unlikely to get any runs in. Day off on Monday. If things go to plan (and they usually don't) then I will be trying for another 16 mile run with a slow pace.

Dublin Marathon is the 26th October and I'm feeling pretty good that I can do it, hopefully in under 5hours (less than 4hrs 30mins would be great). I should get in a few half marathons before this (Swindon, Cricklade, Cheltenham, Bath) as real events seem to bring out a much better performance than a training run.

The wife, myself and 3 lasses from the running group are then heading back to Dublin for the Movember 10k run.

managed to run 16:39miles last night in 2hrs 51mins 35secs, joining up my loop in West Swindon with the running group core routes in East Swindon. A good first 8/9miles and then slowed a little. Reduced my average mileage pace from previous 16mile run from 11:08 down to 10:28.

Nice one Iain. I've been struggling to run in the humid evenings but managed a 5k in 34:43 which is way off my best. For some reason since I did my ankle, I don't seem to be able to pick up the pace. I blame the weather!! lol.

The combination hayfever/asthma ended my army career :-( Still suffer a bit with the hayfever but no problems re asthma.

it's been generally too hot/muggy for me. I'm not good with heat and humidity and prefer to run in rain or with grey skies.

Went out for an 8mile run on Wednesday and ran into a swarm of bugs - eyes, nose and mouth seemed to scoop up the hordes.

Tried a quicker 3 mile run yesterday and very pleased with the times (8:50 9:14 and 8:34). Sweating buckets afterwards.

My asthma is generally under control, but during the hayfever season I definitely feel it so i don't see it as worth the risk.

Got out again last night in a break in the rain :-) 5.9km in 37 minutes, including warm up and down walks (5 mins of each) so pretty pleased with the pace and again just glad to get out. The humid air is doing nothing for me either, I am sweating utter buckets after running at the moment....so bad that my wife won't let me sit down when I get back in!!

Still sweating buckets on runs even though there doesn't seem to be much sunshine.

80 days until my first marathon. Seems far away but yet doesn't seem enough time.

Have 5 half marathons on the cards before this as I ramp up my running :

Chippenham 6th Sept

Bristol 13th Sept

Cheltenham 27th Sept

Cricklade 4th Oct

Swindon 11th Oct

Will be spending the week in Dublin (24th Oct to 1st Nov) as things to do before and after the marathon. Then heading back to Dublin mid-November with some runners from the running group to take part in the Movember 10k
