Hi all,

Installing Windows onto all of our macs, and getting rid of osx (thank goodness!)

However is there any way to deploy the mac keyboard layout? I know that you can install bootcamp tools and do it that way but ideally I don't want to image 75 machines and then have to run a separate piece of software to just make a keyboard work, when everything else is automated.

Thanks

Hmmm I could but ideally it would just be the keyboard i'd like to reinstall as I already insert the drivers as part of my MDT deployment.

It is expensive solution but dual booting is no longer an option, having real trouble with CS6 on OSX.

The Apple layout is additional to the normal windows layout. We had to change them in the control panel under 'region and langauges' then the 'keyboards and languages' tab and then add the layout 'United Kindom (Apple)' as it wasn't added by default. we only have 20 macs so did them one by one and we also removed all other layouts so they could not change.

Basically we have a windows 7 image that was created about a month ago, ive then injected the imac drivers into MDT and deployed and image to the imac. The keyboard drives don't seem to go across to the new install though...

If your CS6 is causing trouble on OSX, what makes you think that its going to run any better on the same (designed for OSX) hardware, running windows. In my experience the reverse is often true. I've dual booted a number of Macs and find that whilst windows will run fine, and most applications will behave well, the more power hungry, graphics, photo and AV tend to be a little less reliable that the same on OSX.

I thought the apple layout was included with win7, but then again we do have bootcamp installed.

For reasons mentioned in the above post, we are actually doing the opposite, we have dual boot, and are now taking windows off. The reason for buying the macs in the first place was to give students experience of osx, and if theres a choice to be made, staff/students will always go windows.
