Gaz Posted May 1, 2014 Posted May 1, 2014 As I have said you are welcome to try my test setup which I know works all you would need to do is change the school identifier at SWGfL end.
witch Posted May 1, 2014 Posted May 1, 2014 What do you mean create an account? You're not creating an account - you're signing the existing account up to Youtube for Schools. I mean, I was signed in on the page and went to "sign up" and filled in all the details it asks for: Name email school address etc I couldn't get any further as the email address was "already in use" Now I cant even get that far as I am getting an internal server error
localzuk Posted May 1, 2014 Posted May 1, 2014 Hmm... In that case, I think your account at Youtube is broken. Try posting in this forum: https://productforums.google.com/forum/#!categories/google-education/youtube-for-schools They're pretty slow at replying, but they do eventually. 1
free780 Posted May 1, 2014 Posted May 1, 2014 (edited) I might be asking for trouble weighing into this one. What happens if you use the share button and copy the url. Remove the s from https. Make sure the playlist is unlisted. This seems to work. Edited May 1, 2014 by free780 1
witch Posted May 2, 2014 Posted May 2, 2014 (edited) I might be asking for trouble weighing into this one. What happens if you use the share button and copy the url. Remove the s from https. Make sure the playlist is unlisted. This seems to work. I did that and yay! I can now do a shortcut to the playlist... But the clips don't play. It's odd- either I can't even get them to start, or the list of the clips which comes up on the right of the one you are playing, starts cycling through - selecting each one but not playing either, and then finally coming up with an error of the "please try later" variety I really thought I had got somewhere Edited May 2, 2014 by witch
witch Posted May 2, 2014 Posted May 2, 2014 Yes - although frankly I don't blame you for asking. On the basis of this thread I look like a complete beginner
witch Posted May 2, 2014 Posted May 2, 2014 If I log on to a different computer I get the normal message about not being able to play the clip because of the edu filter and that it needs to be added to a playlist. If I look at the URL the edufilter ID is in there and of course I HAVE added the videos to a playlist - that's what I am looking at. Not sure why I get a different result logged on as the same person on a different computer but hey ho ...
free780 Posted May 2, 2014 Posted May 2, 2014 Its just been a issue on various other threads. If you see a red cross by the speaker in the tray it means windows has not detected any speakers/headphones. You can update the audio driver which may/may not fix the issue. Or you can use the following reg key to disable the audio device detection. [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E96C-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}\0000\GlobalSettings] "EnableDynamicDevices"=hex:00,00,00,00 All of this is for Windows 7 which I'm assuming you are using.
free780 Posted May 2, 2014 Posted May 2, 2014 I would say try the html5 player but it doesn't work with the edu filter. Its annoying because I can replicate the quick cycling through the playlist due to no headphones. You could try the latest flash and closing then re-opening the browser.
witch Posted May 2, 2014 Posted May 2, 2014 Flash is up to date on my laptop But I suspect that even if I got the cycling sorted, I would then get the other message about not being able to play the video because of the edu filter. I am sure that it is something stupid that I have done as it is similar (but not quite the same) in both my schools
ivantalboys Posted May 13, 2014 Posted May 13, 2014 If you are getting play lists cycling through videos with out actually playing it maybe that the video is hosted on googlevideo.com and that domain hasn't been unblocked. I had a similar issue and opening up googlevideo.com worked for me. I am still having issues with play lists and subscriptions showing when directing to youtube edu. 1
witch Posted June 4, 2014 Posted June 4, 2014 Got back to this issue today and ignoring the cycling, which I cannot identify the reason for, I am definitely getting the message about not being able to view the clips unless added to a playlist - but they are and the identifier is in the header. I have managed to get it working in my other school yesterday (no guarantee it will still be working when I get there of course) so yesterday I effectively started again here - following EXACTLY what I did in the other school - logging on and creating a new channel etc etc The school identifier is there and correct but still no joy I just wish I understoood what was going on.
witch Posted June 9, 2014 Posted June 9, 2014 Still struggling with this Deleted all channels and one account and started again. Channel identifier definitely there but still the same issue - vids won't play "with the education filter enabled"
