I am using WDS to install win7 is there a way to force a username and password prompt (so students cant image computers)

I still need to leave in the answer file (as this is required for the 'system locale' to be set).

I have played with image permissions but no luck, it either is available or not, I can't force a prompt for UN and PW.

Thanks

I assume this is fired off by PXE?

Could you just change the boot order for the purposes of imaging, and then change it back employing a bios password to prevent anyone but yourselves changing the boot order?

Could you just stop the service when you aren't using it?

I'm sure there is a way to apply a username and password, but I can't remember what it is now... I'll look through my docs and shout if I find anything.

Have you looked at editting the bootstrapper.INI and removing just the password? We leave the username (installer) in but just have to enter the password. We also disable F12 in the BIOS and stop the wds service when we are not re-imaging machines.

Remember to recreate your boot image AND ALSO remove it from WDS and reimport it.
