[sims] Pupil assessment data before joined school

Hi all,

 

Is it possible to enter pupils assessment progress for before they joined our school into SIMS?

 

We basically have really high pupil mobility, so comparing long term pupils with pupils who join later on would be really useful. So for example if Joe Bloggs started in Year 2 - could we enter his assessment data from year 1 & FS from his previous school?

 

Personally it sounds like it would mess up SIMS and our assessment data, any ideas?

Shouldn't be an issue. You can use Excel import.

Been told I can create a new template for the year group, using the mark sheet for the year in question?!

Should be easy with result sets. All you have to do is make a result set for Y1 Autumn for example and import the result into there when you do Import from Spreadsheet. Then you'd have result sets for each assessment period (Y1 AUT, Y1 SPR, Y1 SMR, Y2 AUT, Y2 SPR, Y2 SMR, etc assuming one assessment per year per term).

 

This way, if a kid joins in Y2 during the autumn assessment period and you have an old grade for him from a previous school from Year 1 spring, you can enter the old grade in Y1 SPR and carry on entering grades as normal from Y2 AUT onwards.

 

Remember that Excel Import does not use marksheets, you import the result directly into aspects and result sets so they slot into your existing marksheets easily.
