I may have read this wrong but you cannot plug one of the splitters directly into a switch and use it that way, they can only be plugged into panel or sockets and split that way. If your switch is full you will need to get an additional switch.

Just use a splitter on the one network port in the room ( not on the switch )

You will need two connections from your switch into one of your splitters and the fly lead from your splitter into the patch panel that links to your far end outlet.

You need another splitter at the far end where you have your end devices.

 

Do not use these things on PoE switches, do not use them on gigabit switches without validating the port and cable drop first.

You would not be the first person to try and split a cable drop that was not fully wired in the first place!

 

You may need to manually set the equipment port at each end to 100mb as the default AutoNegotiate may fail as the equipment may see the load as faulty or miswired.

 

I don't like them as they are a fudge around, but with care there is no reason why they should not work.

 

I suspect the HP 1606 is not detecting the 4 wired connection so try setting the interface to 100FD from a fully wired non PoE port first"

Could you make the printer or PC wireless ? Might be slower but if you have good wireless coverage why not use what you have in place already.

You may also find the structured wiring is not complete or faulty. get a tester to check all 4 pairs.

 

How long is the run? Interference across the Pairs may leed to problems even at 100Mb

10 mbps full duplex should be enough for the printer. Not sure ref the pc

You did read it wrong. I have used these before just seem to have problems this time.
