glennda Posted December 5, 2013 Posted December 5, 2013 I know all about Sky Multiroom but I don't ideally want to be paying for a third box (we already have it in my flatmates bedroom) so in the evenings the main sky box is free. (it is HD). Can anybody recommend me a unit that I can use to send the signal into my bedroom (approx 10/12m) from the original Sky box and also the Sky remote? there are various options out there but I am not sure which one is best.
Achandler Posted December 5, 2013 Posted December 5, 2013 I persoanlly use the RF out on the back, basically just a standard aerial cable, then use a sky magic eye so I can control the box. The con is the image isn't as crisp and you cna only watch what the box you are connected to is watching, so if you are fighting over watching laods of channels at once it is of no help. The pro is, it will cost you about £40 to do, some aerial cable and the magic eye.
plexer Posted December 5, 2013 Posted December 5, 2013 RF2 is the simplest way to go. Otherwise you are looking at a video sender either wireless or possibly over cat5 with an infrared dongle for the remote control signal. Ben

glennda Posted December 5, 2013 Author Posted December 5, 2013 Yeah I have used Skygo - I am on Zen Internet so have a bandwidth Cap and I would prefer to use that for Netflix than for watching sky
achedgy Posted December 5, 2013 Posted December 5, 2013 I use a hdmi splitter and ran both hdmi and coax from the sky box to second TV. Crystal clear and using the magic eye can control from the other room (either that or sky+ app)

plexer Posted December 5, 2013 Posted December 5, 2013 A NowTV box won't get all the channels that are already included with the sky sub without additional cost though, they do seem to be a cheap way of getting sky movies though. SkyGO was also the same although I think it's got better in that I couldn't watch all the channels I am subbed to via it unless you had the full package. Ben

sdc Posted December 5, 2013 Posted December 5, 2013 You'd need to convert the AV feed to IP - which is possible, but pricey for what you're wanting to achieve, I would think. Also, if you did so, I'm not convinced you'd also get the remote control signal back the other way. I'm not aware of being able to send anything other than IP over Powerline (but others may be?).

Usually the cheap ones from China. yeah i thought as much! I will investigate the possibility of wiring the place but I'm not convinced it will be easy!
