This image leaked last night which seems to suggest that the sales start this evening:

I guess we'll know by 6pm if the rumours are true or not.

Just bought Shadowrun Returns, it has quite a nice old skool feel to it. A strange cross between XCOM and a text adventure. :D

Also for some reason, you can scroll to the bottom of the store page and the header is mirrored upside down. Search the store from this mirror header and the results are upside down!

Not just upside down - it says "Steam Spring Sale 2013", the seasons are inverted too. I'd imagine it's a clever joke on the fact that in Australia it's spring not autumn. I'd guess they've got the same thing down there, but with the headers reversed.

Yeah they have, was reading that this morning, it's a neat touch :)

Also, anyone noticed on mobile app it's called the "Fall Sale"? Pick a continent Steam, any continent :p

I've got my eye on the Tomb Raider complete collection, but already have Tomb Raider 2013 - anyone looking to buy TR2013 or have their eye on any other packs they'd like to trade games from for it?

I don't know if it's always been this way, but the latest daily deals are a lie: FFVII was already £6.69, it being in the "daily deal" hasn't touched it's price. For shame Steam, for shame.

Seems it was a temporary glitch, price now £3.39 and I'm happy :)

Hi All,

Did this actually happen, or was it a hoax?

Looking to buy a game for my son, but wondered if it was worth waiting until the second date mentioned on the 'leaked document' - 19th December?

That e-mail looks a bit suspect because "Autumn" is known as "Fall" in the US and Canada. Why would Valve (being an American company) use the word "Autumn" in an e-mail listing prices in US dollars?

Ah yeah, it looks iffy but I wondered as people seemed 'on it' and one of the dates had passed, I wondered if anyone could confirm that it happened or not? I know there are lots of STEAM users on the forum!

The first Steam sale did happen as the e-mail said. Steam usually do have a Christmas sale so if the e-mail is not 100%, there will still be a sale soon I reckon.

FWIW last year's Steam sale started on the 21st December, so the 19th for this year is credible. And the Autumn sale was indeed on the dates listed, and was called the Autumn sale, not the Fall sale, for whatever reason. I'm inclined to believe it.

If you have a Steam account and your son has his own, bear in mind that you can buy games as a gift for later - they're held in your inventory until you choose to send them. So buy a game he wants when it's on cheap, then sit on it until birthday/Christmas and send it then :)

Dammit, I wanted that video of sock tea. Ah well, I will console myself with CHEAP GAMES.

Found this last night and it is very cool: Firefox/Chrome extension Enhanced Steam

Highlights games you own, games on your wishlist, shows the cheapest price a game has been on Steam & its cheapest historical price anywhere else on the web, shows how long a game will take to beat... and worryingly, shows you on your account page how much you've spent. I'm clocking in at £254 (not bad for 208 games, god bless Humble Bundles) but one of my techs looked and he was on £1200+...

I got what I wanted for my son! Well, it was in a little Counterstrike bundle with 75% off! It was Condition Zero! I know it's old and not very graphically amazing. But he used to take a real interest in me playing Counterstrike (like boys do) but he's too young I think to be playing it. So I spent hours skinning up CZ for him with robots and Teletubbies, lego maps, balls for grenades, no weapons, paint splat bullet holes, no blood (obviously), a little toy bomb, a fish knife, with bots to play with and all sorts and he loved it (mostly just wandered round the map getting killed though)!

He's a little older now but still not ready for the full horror of war, so I'm going to try skinning a Star Wars theme and we can LAN together.

He's totally not into playing the guitar yet (my other love) which breaks my heart, but can't push him and now at least we can do this together. I know it's not much but I guarantee, to him it will be the best Xmas prezzie ever!
