We are getting 30 ipads soon, and a question has arose about keeping the school's card information safe - I know with the app store it saves the card info, so potentially if a student got the account password, they could go on a spending spree with the card.

What's the best way to prevent this from happening? Apparently it isn't very easy to delete the card info after each transaction either, so any suggestions would be welcome :)

Nearly all our staff have ipads and as part of their AUP, they use their school email accounts for the school appstore purchases.

We also tell staff never to use their personal credit cards on these accounts and to purchase and redeem itune vouchers against their accounts.

Ah, vouchers is what I was thinking along the lines of, the only issue being, say, if an account got topped up with a £10 gift card, which was used to buy a £1 app, there would still be £9 on that account, so if a student was to get the password, they could then go and spend that on anything.

Vouchers here too. Staff can buy apps as they wish, within reason. So far no-one has gone mad with it. The more expensive apps generally get permission before purchase. We've bought a few £20+ apps for example, where the people who wanted them got authorisation first.

We use app store vouchers and turn the restrictions on so no purchases. Only we know the code. The teachers moan but tough.

Nice, so you have to put the voucher code in for individual each app purchase? :)
