One member of staff has asked for an iPad (take iPad as a word for portable solution) and I am thinking a Surface that they can login as themselves and they get their emails and files. We have a CC4 network but I am not that bothered about it being CC4'ed

We have a CC4 network but I am not that bothered about it being CC4'ed Are you talking Surface RT or Pro. RT doesnt have domain logins. RT is/was cheap Pro isnt.

zag Posted October 23, 2013 Posted October 23, 2013 Not using the Surface pro no, its very expensive for what it is. If they want an ipad just let them have one, we have half our staff using ipads and they work fine for what they do (email, registers, showing presentations).

It's accessing documents is the main thing plus shared calenders when in meetings etc. For that, an iPad is out. When I use mine, I just RDP back to my main machine.

If I were to go for an inexpensive Windows tablet, this would be pretty high on my list. Still think id rather have the dell venue 11 pro (atom version on their site now) as ive not been impressed with my current asus tablet (vivotab smart) in a few areas screen scratches easily lack of usb port on the tablet (granted the t100 has one on the dock but that's not ideal) and the trackpad on the keyboard is worse than useless

Granted it's not the highest spec, but it's 8.1 Pro with a keyboard for £349

Just checked and indeed I cannot add this to the domain, the box is greyed out. Also, no Bitlocker.

It is Windows 8.1 Windows 8.1 Enterprise | Compare Editions when mapping drives how did you deal with authentication as its not a domain member?
