ISA 2000 server problems............?

I know, I know but before you say it its one of my jobs fo rthe new year to upgrade to ISA 2004.

 

The problem i have at the moment is that people keep complaing the internet is not working through our Proxy, I check the server and its servces and all seems fine but, it does not work. If i do a quick restart of the MS WebProxyservice all works again. I have checked the event log and nothing is showing.

 

Any one have any ideas?

No fast answer here tosca- I have had to do that several times in the past year and need to upgrade to ISA 2004 myself (apparently it's a doddle by the way- stick the disk in and let it work its magic). Go to the site below and see if you can find the answer there if there isn't one here soon:

Check that the ethernet cards came up in the correct order (also check DNS )

 

I had an ISA 2000 box that was VERY fussy about the order that the cards came up - the external card had to come up second IIRC.

I second Ric_'s post untill recently, when I got shot of ISA totally, It would do exactly the same where the proxy would just stop responding for no reason and no errors either.

 

After a bit of digging I ensured that the External NIC was set to secondary and the Internal NIC was primary, This did solve the problem for a bit but then I found that the proxy would stop responding again if the overall load on it was getting high the proxy would stop.

 

Not syaing this is your problem but just thought it was worth a mention.

Open up 'Network Connections', select the 'Advanced' menu and 'Advanced Options' and there's loads of goodies in there!

 

The 'external NIC' is the network interface that points at the outside world from your ISA box (this may have a public IP or be part of a bigger network).
