mattx Posted October 6, 2013 Posted October 6, 2013 Why is this moron still commentating on F1 ? He knows nothing about the sport. In fact he knows nothing about nothing. He was terrible when the BBC had him for the TV and on the radio he is even worse.
mattx Posted October 6, 2013 Author Posted October 6, 2013 Could be worse, it could be James Allen... That is very true.
XiJ Posted October 6, 2013 Posted October 6, 2013 James Allen is actually a decent F1 journalist - although I couldn't stand him as a TV commentator. However, I'd take him over legard every day of the week. Can't beat Crofty and Brundle though.
CESIL Posted October 6, 2013 Posted October 6, 2013 1. I didn't find Mr Legard particularly bad and considerably better than Mr Walker in his dotage. 2. I haven't seen or heard much from Mr Brundle since he sold his soul to the (Australian) Devil. 3. I find the current BBC team pretty good although I wish Lee McKenzie had been given the lead job. 4. The commentary is only an added extra anyway as they are only describing what I can see for myself, including the live timing data that I often get (or notice) before them! [edit] Who the feck is "Crofty"?
synaesthesia Posted October 6, 2013 Posted October 6, 2013 (edited) I shall not have anyone knock Mr Walker. Nicest person I've ever met! Crofty can do one, but noone can do one more than Gary Anderson. He worked for Eddie Jordan for so long it fried his brain. Some of the technical guff he comes out with is pure bullhooks! Things like "RED BULL IS NOT USING ANY FORM OF TRACTION CONTROL". Heh, sure. You keep thinking that sir, the rest of the world will just shout obscurities at you. He doesn't wind me up as much as that prat from Pirelli though - they pee me off anyway but he keeps coming out with crap like Vettel is better than Alonso and Hamilton etc. Suuuurre.... InterwebsGuy Posted October 7, 2013 Posted October 7, 2013 [edit] Who the feck is "Crofty"? He's a legend. He used to do the 5Live radio commentary, but moved to Sky along with Brundle and co. Crofty should have been commentating on TV far sooner, the mind boggles why the BBC didn't pair him up with Brundle...
mthomas08 Posted October 7, 2013 Posted October 7, 2013 Still miss the best F1 team, only thing was missing was Murray but he did show his face at times. Had Crofty on practices who certainly is good enough for the races, Brundle/David and the Lee (who I find hot for some reason). David/Eddie and Jake who not only gave us a good taste of comedy but you had the driver, team boss and a normal fan. And by normal I call a guy who probably hasn't watched it like its his religion... like some of us.. Cant blame them for heading to Sky, big pay rises, live F1 every race, spend more time doing the job they enjoy. it would be like me being offered the same job, better money and better working conditions.. E.g less teachers ands tudents
ICTDirect_Dave Posted October 7, 2013 Posted October 7, 2013 Could be worse, it could be James Allen... Could be worse... Could be Jim Rosenthal! I loathed that man when ITV did the coverage. The Sky team are bobbins except for Ted Kravitz who is such an F1 Geek! The BBC team are weaker without Jake, but DC is brilliant IMHO and I still choose to watch the BBC highlights over the Sky coverage each week.
laserblazer Posted October 7, 2013 Posted October 7, 2013 If only we could go back to the days when John Arlott and Brian Johnston were the TMS commentators and Murry Walker and James Hunt did F1. Now they did know what they were talking about. (well most of them)
Ad93 Posted October 7, 2013 Posted October 7, 2013 Jonathon Legard is rubbish he did the commentary for the Silverstone Classic on ITV4 and even though I only watched the Supertouring race I gathered from his knowledge that he had just turned up and not looked into any facts or history as some of the stuff he came out with was utter rubbish. I think that the BBC TV commentary team has got to be one of the best, although I don't like that fact that every comment David Coulthard comes out with about Red Bull shows that he is still on their pay roll, there should be a message that scrolls across the screen when he talks about Red Bull and Vettel especially.

They play those autio reels from the 1930s sometimes on luch breaks and you wouldn't know that it wasn't the same group as today. I love that about cricket. It's timeless
