We have a stock of equipment ranging from cameras to spare PSU's to... well you get the idea.

At the moment we have a paper file people use to sign equipment out, however I'm keen to integrate this into our electronic systems. Can anyone suggest a bit of (Preferable no cost) software that we could use for this, or do I need to get my head back into PHP and develop something in house?

I use QuickTrack Pro which came free with the Peninsula barcode scanners we bought for our library. Barcode scanners were £99 each though...

Before that, we just used excel.

We use spiceworks for the helpdesk and inventory etc.

We have created a custom group then when someone loans something we just move the device into that group and add the person as the owner of the device. It also records the date the owner was changed in the timeline so we know how long they have had it.

See if you can track it in the same system that your Library/Resource Centre uses (if you have one), No point in duplicating systems across the school.

Great minds think alike :)

Hmmm

that's a point. We have the online microlibrarian system. Does anyone use that for tracking other things? I think I remember that you can do that?

Just add it like you would any other resource, Most systems will generally have a "Category" feature or the likes so you can have Books/Videos/etc categorised separately where needed.
