I've been trying to rebuild one of the library computer since Monday, with multiple build errors.

Currently, when I attempt to build from either the network or WinPE it aborts before install OS with the error message:

Image handling exception: WIMGAPI function WIMCreateFile failed with error 1392 while processing E:\Images\d0p2.wim

Anyone experienced this error before and found a solution?

Thanks

Neil

We had this identical error message just last week on a workstation that wouldn't build and was as you say down to a faulty RAM stick. Apparently corrupts the OS .wim when pulling it down off the server... Edited by andyturpie

I don't normally reopen 4 year old threads, but having just come across this problem on a VMware virtual PC, I've decided I must have a faulty VIRTUAL stick of RAM then...!

I have come across the WIMGAPI build error many times over the last 8-9 years and nine times out of ten it is the partitioning/formatting on the HDD. Once it was found to be a faulty RAM module and a couple of times it was faulty intermittent NIC/network issues. I think that a couple of occasions it was caused by the Server awaiting a reboot after updates too.
