Need a CD player with 6 headphone outputs

Hi

 

We use TTS Easi-listener CD players for kids to listen to audiobooks through headphones in groups of 6.

 

They keep breaking (cos they're cheaply made tut) but unless I can find an affordable alternative, I have to keep buying them. Not to mention that the kids keep knackering the CDs ... Any ideas for an alternative? The obvious thing would be some mp3 players, but of course that breaks copyright, so not an option.

I remember when i use to work in a study support centre there was this splitter that they connected to the macs for multiple people to listen. Im not sure if belkin do a 6-way i did a quick google and found some unbranded ones.

Then you can connect that up to any cd player you like.

The other option (and yes, I'm aware this is more costly, but depending on how many it is you have to keep buying, might work out cheaper) would be to get something like:

 

CD Player etc >> DS-610 - DAP AUDIO - CD/USB/MP3 PLAYER | CPC

Headphone Amp >> HEADAMP 6 - ART - HEADPHONE AMPLIFIER, 6 CHANNEL | CPC

Flightcase >> ABS-2U - PULSE - FLIGHT CASE, ABS 19" 2U | CPC

 

It comes to £340 + VAT. It all depends on how much control you want and what you want to spend to get well made.

 

The other option for all in one stuff is of course Coomber who do a listening centre here >> CD player, Listening center, amplify your ipod, mp3 player

I looked at these - worried they'll lose too much volume when the output is split that many ways with no amp, but probably worth buying a couple.

The Coomber option looks great, but I can't get the cash together. The headphone amp option might be a goer though. Can't afford the Farnell stuff but came across this Behringer product which goes for about £40 ex VAT. It supports 8 pairs of headphones.

So....

 

Resurrecting my own ancient thread. When I asked in 2013, the winning recommendation was the Coomber listening station. They're so well liked (and have survived 4 years almost unscathed) that we now want more. Unfortunately, they're discontinued - Coomber have gone all 21st Century and the equivalent model now uses Bluetooth sources.

 

Any other recommendations for a CD player with 6 headphone outputs?

I saw those and if it was my money, that's what I'd do. However, that approach is not positively received. Shiny, new and with a guarantee is preferred.....
