Gongalong Posted October 2, 2013 Posted October 2, 2013 They do. Don't expect a PM today. Ta. Yes, spotted I was out of luck today :-)
ICTDirect_Dave Posted October 2, 2013 Posted October 2, 2013 I need to get a stack of cards that just say [redacted] and get problem staff to read it aloud... Me: "Read this..." Staff: "Em-AAAARGH" Me [to [redacted]]: "What have you got in the way of dooblydoos?" You're putting a lot of thought into this!
X-13 Posted October 2, 2013 Posted October 2, 2013 You're putting a lot of thought into this! I'm watching a laptop build. Or more specifically, I'm watching it NOT install software and preparing to slap it.
Gonk Posted October 2, 2013 Posted October 2, 2013 I need to get a stack of cards that just say [redacted] and get problem staff to read it aloud... Me: "Read this..." Staff: "Em-AAAARGH" Me [to [redacted]]: "What have you got in the way of dooblydoos?" What happens if you say [REDACTED]'s name three times?
ICTDirect_Dave Posted October 2, 2013 Posted October 2, 2013 Can you not make it say the FORBIDDEN Word and save yourself the trouble?
X-13 Posted October 2, 2013 Posted October 2, 2013 (edited) What happens if you say [REDACTED]'s name three times? [Redacted] spawns, despawns and respawns 3 times in quick succession. Her wrath becomes endless and all life turns to ash. Can you not make it say the FORBIDDEN Word and save yourself the trouble? What, RM? All that'll do is annoy ME. Edited October 2, 2013 by X-13
Gonk Posted October 2, 2013 Posted October 2, 2013 What, RM? All that'll do is annoy ME. Aaaaarrrrrgggghhhhhhhhh............ nooooooooooooooo not that word! 1
X-13 Posted October 2, 2013 Posted October 2, 2013 Aaaaarrrrrgggghhhhhhhhh............ nooooooooooooooo not that word! If you react like that to the word... don't visit our school. 99% of our computers are from them.
ICTDirect_Dave Posted October 2, 2013 Posted October 2, 2013 Haha! That word is definitely a no no!, but if you got your RM *shudder* machines saying HER forbidden name maybe you'd get new machines?
Gonk Posted October 2, 2013 Posted October 2, 2013 (edited) Haha! That word is definitely a no no!, but if you got your RM *shudder* machines saying HER forbidden name maybe you'd get new machines? hmm... now there's an idea.... I can see a whole new suite of PCs being purchased.... (from @VeryPC of course!) Edited October 2, 2013 by Gonk
hallb15 Posted October 2, 2013 Posted October 2, 2013 hmm... now there's an idea.... I can see a whole new suite of PCs being purchased.... (from @VeryPC of course!) Do it! I've just got 4 new Broadleaf Access PCs and they are the bees knees (very cool laser etched school logo on the front)
X-13 Posted October 2, 2013 Posted October 2, 2013 Haha! That word is definitely a no no!, but if you got your RM *shudder* machines saying HER forbidden name maybe you'd get new machines? That IS the eventual plan. [Pending quotes, meeting and what-not]
VeryPC Posted October 2, 2013 Author Posted October 2, 2013 Do we get to know how many names are in the chassis so we can calculate our odds of winning and then make conspiratorial claims of prize-fixing when the PS4 goes to @X-13? Yep - currently 77 entrants (and climbing) less the 2 tickets already removed If we keep things easy and assume 1 extra entry each day to keep the tickets in the chassis at a constant 75, we can work out your chances of winning on each of the next 29 remaining days. let's call tomorrow day 1 for simplicity: Day 1 = 1/75 Day 2 = (1/75)*(74/75) :: 2nd bit is chance you were NOT selected the day before and are therefore still in the chassis. Day 3 = (1/75)*(74/75)2 :: 2nd bit is chance not selected for both previous days Day 4 = (1/75)*(74/75)3 :: 2nd bit is chance not selected for three previous days ...and so on With a bit of quick spreadsheetery we can add up all of these chances to get your total chance for the 29 days remaining = 32% chance of winning a daily prize if you are in the chassis now. If anyone wants to pull my reasoning or spreadsheet formulations apart, feel free to correct me. Al stocktober2 winning chances.xlsx 2

Good luck for tomorrow everyone! Al 3
sonofsanta Posted October 2, 2013 Posted October 2, 2013 The point where Al mugs at the camera and says "errrrr chaos!" was all a bit David Brent for a moment there. Don't suppose you play the guitar and write your own songs do you, Al?
StevieM Posted October 2, 2013 Posted October 2, 2013 I saw one of those trackball thingies being used in the box office at Liverpool Philharmonic Hall the other day and I thought, 'I want one of those!' Congrats stevehill06. 1
VeryPC Posted October 2, 2013 Author Posted October 2, 2013 That is some elastic band ball! Cheers Dave. Actually we nicked it from Emma's *quickly checks the exits - phew* desk. She's been making it for about 3 years - maybe thats why she was so ticked off with me! Al

VeryPC Posted October 3, 2013 Author Posted October 3, 2013 Morning morning! Another bright sunny (read: damp and cloudy) October morning in Sheffield. The perfect conditions for prize winner selection. Lots of daily stock prizes still to be won and of course the star prize pre-order PlayStation 4 is still sitting pretty up there in slot 32 (virtual slot - you cannot choose it!). Remember entries are still open, so if you get in now you'll be in the draw from tomorrow onwards until your name is drawn (but will be put back before the star prize PS4 draw). To enter just PM me your professional contact details if you are a UK based IT manager/tech type, OR if you've entered a VeryPC competition on EduGeek before, you can just speak up in the thread that you want back in and we'll add you. X-13 Posted October 3, 2013 Posted October 3, 2013 until your name is drawn (but will be put back before the star prize PS4 draw) Any chance of micro-competitions for extra entries?
VeryPC Posted October 3, 2013 Author Posted October 3, 2013 Any chance of micro-competitions for extra entries? I daresay, but it tends to develop organically. We'll see what ideas come along as we go like last year. Al
