alexsanger Posted October 15, 2013 Posted October 15, 2013 Al IS a wookie. Can't be - he's letting other people win. Without tearing their arms off.
sparkeh Posted October 15, 2013 Posted October 15, 2013 Oh yeah he IS a Wookie! *crosses off another entry in I-Spy Star Wars Species* Awesome just need to get a Twi'lek and I'm half done. So maybe Al needs to carry a homemade C3PO in on his back?
X-13 Posted October 15, 2013 Posted October 15, 2013 Can't be - he's letting other people win. Without tearing their arms off. Ah, but getting prizes isn't the point of Stock2ber... It's all about getting professional contact details and acting like a cool company.
hallb15 Posted October 15, 2013 Posted October 15, 2013 Al IS a wookie. No Al is an Ewok - convincing evidence already submitted! http://www.edugeek.net/forums/our-advertisers/123356-stocktober2-month-prizes-sweeties-verypc-17.html#post1062300
VeryPC Posted October 15, 2013 Author Posted October 15, 2013 Ah, but getting prizes isn't the point of Stock2ber... It's all about getting professional contact details and acting like a cool company. The key word being "like" a cool company. It's all a cynical act really! Al
VeryPC Posted October 15, 2013 Author Posted October 15, 2013 (edited) OT btw: wanna see something cool? This geyser erupted in front of me on the way to work this morning: and here's a closer shot as the little men come with their big spanners to turn it off: cool eh? Al Edited October 15, 2013 by VeryPC
X-13 Posted October 15, 2013 Posted October 15, 2013 The key word being "like" a cool company. It's all a cynical act really! Al I dunno, you seem pretty cool to me. Free upgrade [which you didn't have to do], cool machines, prizes, jokes and 90% of the stuff Tom[?] said this morning on the phone was pretty cool... though he was probably thinking of someone else. Le EDIT: oh yeah. Our HT loves the glide, too. 1

mac_shinobi Posted October 15, 2013 Posted October 15, 2013 OT btw: wanna see something cool? This Geeza erupted in front of me on the way to work this morning: and here's a closer shot as the little men come with their big spanners to turn it off: cool eh? Al I know you spelt it correctly but when I say that word it sounds like Geeza / Geezer etc, London / Cockney talk lol
VeryPC Posted October 15, 2013 Author Posted October 15, 2013 I know you spelt it correctly but when I say that word it sounds like Geeza / Geezer etc, London / Cockney talk lol Yeah I thought that too: Me: "I saw this Geezer shooting 10 metres in the air on my way to work this morning" Colleague: "You saw what?!?!?!?" 1
X-13 Posted October 15, 2013 Posted October 15, 2013 Ah cheers mate! We do our best. It was @VeryPC_Tom_B yes. Al Tom needs to get his head checked. I think he may have banged it... I'm nowhere near as cool as he/you think I am.
StevieM Posted October 15, 2013 Posted October 15, 2013 Ah, but getting prizes isn't the point of Stock2ber... It's all about getting professional contact details and acting like a cool company. Well, it's working! Just been perusing the VeryPC website to see what they're all about, as we could do with some new computers in the staff room. 5 year warranty always goes down well in procurement discussions with SMT. The only downside with the site for me is that there are no indications of price range without getting in touch. Still, they seem like a cool company. 3
SirToby Posted October 15, 2013 Posted October 15, 2013 Get in there @SirToby ! Pick a good box. Ahaha thanks Col, hope you're alright. Cheeeeeeers! Your prize reveal coming up after lunch. Super fast response btw! Al Thanks alot Al, I'm usually the first in to watch the videos 1
X-13 Posted October 15, 2013 Posted October 15, 2013 The only downside with the site for me is that there are no indications of price range without getting in touch. I 100% agree with this. Even RM ~spit~ let you see how much things cost, even when you change the spec. Though, VeryPC are pretty good on price. Even if/when they're a bit more expensive, you get a 5 year warranty instead of the usual 3 years. So the extra is justified in my mind. [To a certain degree. A 50% price difference cannot be explained away as "an extra 2 years warranty"] 1

Cheers @StevieM Shall I add you to our list to be @mentioned when we announce (very soon) that our new webshop is open? It is designed for home consumers primarily so will have the retail prices of our products on it but education and volume customers get a very significant discount off RRP. If you can't wait, PM @VeryPC_Tom_B and ask for a quote - he'll be very happy to oblige. Al

Al I was thinking the same ref the Very PC Website - would be good to have it similar to Apple / Dell websites as far as If it has a default config then price is X and then you can click a configure button to customize the spec and as you add / remove items etc it adjusts the price accordingly so SSD vs HDD, Extra RAM etc etc As I wanted to look at the very pc slim notebook and what else you do and wanted to get an idea on price for the different lines you do ie laptop / desktop etc but could only see a few different variations of the same desktop / laptop you do but no price
StevieM Posted October 15, 2013 Posted October 15, 2013 Cheers @StevieM Shall I add you to our list to be @mentioned when we announce (very soon) that our new webshop is open? That sounds like a plan. Normally, if a website insists you make contact before you get any idea of a price I (cynically) assume that they have something to hide. However, seeing as we've already made contact and you come recommended, I'll be in touch as soon as I've convinced the head that new staffroom computers are even required. 1
VeryPC Posted October 15, 2013 Author Posted October 15, 2013 Check this out. Here's the design for the Stocktober T-shirts that will be awarded in addition to booby prizes and will be offered as a swap for normal prizes if you don't want/need what we pulled out of your box: The prizes you don't want will be posted in the classified section of EduGeek as free to a good home for whoever claims them first. We like to see kit being used by someone who needs it even when it seems not very useful to everyone else. I'll be PMing all the winners so far for your decision shortly Al [and yep - that is me. I designed a t-shirt with my own face on *wins pan-global biggest ego prize 2013*] 2
mac_shinobi Posted October 15, 2013 Posted October 15, 2013 I will have the shirt please - like stated in the post above, better the item go to a home that needs or has better use of said item Plus that shirt looks awesome !! 1
featured_spectre Posted October 15, 2013 Posted October 15, 2013 Does it come in Super fat git size? (Not kidding). As I am on the rather large side (incase I win)

Just to add my 2p worth - we got 4 Broadleaf Access desktop PCs a couple of weeks ago for the staff room and all the staff love them-not just because they look good with the school logo etched on them, but because they work well and have so far proven to be reliable. 2
StevieM Posted October 15, 2013 Posted October 15, 2013 Genius! That made me laugh out loud. It's a good job it's playtime and I've got no children in the suite. Choice of colours and sizes available, perchance? 1
