Cue some stupid contracts (length & amounts) and people paying well beyond their means for them.

Yes, but they will have a shiny new iphone !!!

Which is not that different from the previous iPhone in terms of spec, but must have latest shiny thing!

(that and Apple will probably restrict certain things from running on the previous-generation model at some point. You can jailbreak, of course, but IMO if you want a phone you can do whatever you want with, you're better off with Android.)

A £709 phone provides it's owner more bragging rights than a £100 phone.....

It's the same with PCs, & cars. Humans don't grow feathers or antlers to show off like the animal kingdom...... I would imagine a few thousand years ago it was the size of your spear or stone axe :)

Wow!

Being defined by the phone you choose...

Each to their own I say

and no I don't have an iPhone

Heavens forbid someone might buy one because their current phone is old, they enjoy gadgets, like using iPhones or just want to. Damn those stupid, stupid people.

Not sure which is worse the price of the phone, the people that will buy one because it is new and shiny or the sanctimonious bunch who have to deride other people's choices!

I saw this thread before there were any replies [/hipster] and guessed it was about the new "affordable" iPhone.

The good news, with your new £709 iPhone you won't need to remember any of those pesky passwords anymore thanks to the new fingerprint reader

The bad news, when you get mugged for said phone you'll also get your finger cut off at the same time :p

If going by past technology trends Apple must be on the way out by now, it's time for something newer and shinier to take its place (see Nokia 1990-2000 lol)

I'll stick to my £21 a month contract for my HTC One! (Unlimited texts, unlimited calls, 1.5GB data, no cost for the phone. 24 month contract). :)

I still don't get the allure of the iPhone.

I love how they've released the iPhone Footballer Edition. Or should it be iPhone Russian Oligarch Edition. Who else is going to buy a gold one!?

Normally you just join the Number or the Number + S cycle, so if you have an iPhone 5 the iPhone 5S should not really appeal as the changes would be small, and you would wait for the iPhone 6, if your an iPhone 4S user the 5S should appeal as the differences should be sufficient for you to want to upgrade.

I'm on my first iPhone (iPhone 5) and compared to my previous phone the Samsung Galaxy SII its so pleasant to use. The build of the device feels better, not cheap. iOS is also way way better than Android from reliability point of view, apps and the android OS would regularly freeze on, and my Galaxy SII would reguallly get extremely hot then reboot, the iPhone in comparison hardly ever crashes for me. Yeah there might be some features Android can do that iOS cannot, but all i am bothered about is it can do what i require and do them well. I'm not going to buy the iPhone 5S, but the addition of the M7 processor might make for some more interesting developments software wise in the future, and the finger print reader is a nice addition.

It's up to people what they want to buy, surely? Why label them for that. Why do people buy a 4x4 top of the range Jeep to drive just to the supermarket in, when you can get a cheap Fiat Panda? It's because it's what they want.

I think I am more looking forward to the iOS7 update than anything here at the moment, I have a 4S, probably when my contract expires end of January/Feb I will look at the 5S, partially because I on the platform and it does seem a decent phone, though I won't be getting it if its a massive amount of cash for the phone, the networks usually subsidise this stuff to get you on there, as I didn't pay anything at all for the 4S when I had it, despite it supposedly being £149 to get, think they are more eager to discount though given my wife and I renew ours the same time and their both on the same account.

Was a bit miffed at giving away of iMovie and iPhoto though, considering I paid for them, I wont hold my breath waiting on a refund though there :)

But is has an 64 bit chip it must be amazing!

Ha!!!!, my Commodore had 64 KILOBYTES which is 64 * 1024 * 8 bits which is 524288 bits / 64 bits = 8192 times better than the new iPhone... what's that, I don't really get it and am completely wrong, well I probably got closer in that misstatement than most of the market Apple is after will ever get to understanding what the actual deal is.

Because THEY want to be labeled. Therefore people have every right to put an unpleasant label on them.

If you want to stand there and shout look at me then you can't complaint when people look and think who's that tos....

(Owner of a 4s - worst phone I have ever bought)
