CCNA or Network+

So i`m looking at getting some certs under my belt and have been looking into the CCNA. the training company I have been looking at said somewhere on their site they recommend doing to Network+ first so it gives you a good foundation, however I have worked in IT support for 10 years now and have done my fair share of cabling although iv never done anything cisco apart from plug in a switch which, doesnt really count.

 

My question is given my experience is the network+ a good thing to have or am I best of just going straight for the CCNA?

I have network+ it's very basic i'd recommend going straight for CCNA with your experience. Maybe a sales ploy IMO

Everything you do with the N+, you will end up repeating in the earlier parts of the CCNA so I would go straight to CCNA if you have some experience with VLANS, routing etc.

Which company were you looking at doing your ccna with

Start with the CCENT and then progress to the CCNA. This is what I did and it gave me a midterm goal to aim for and much greater understanding overall! Much better than trying to cram it all in for a single exam.

I looking at a company called Commsupport.

 

I was going to take the CCENT first as I didn't want to over stretch myself.

CCNA is the way to go...

 

Make sure you are doing the new curriculum though.
