I have also tried staging the driver into the filerepository in windows\system32 which sort of worked in that I can see the microbit in my computer and I can drop files onto it no problem, but Kodu won't recognise it for use as a controller (which is one of the things we want to use) I am going to try winstall again to get all the driver files and their locations and I will try staging it again. When I tried I don't think all the drivers were present hence why the controller didnt work. anyone else had any success with this?

We have been given some Microbits and I can tell you I have tried Winstall 3 times now and each time I have got errors. not sure how to tackle it now
-
tried Advanced installer but could never get on with it really, I use one called Winstall it used to be freeware but I think its paid for now, worth checking I use it for everything

Hi all, we have just taken delivery of some Microbits and im looking at packaging up the driver, as its an mbed installers there isnt many options and I cant package it to install correctly. just wondered if anyone had any success in packaging the drivers on RM networks Thanks

thanks Anthony, we used TP Matrix quite a bit but, on the last occasion they diagnosed a EB-450W as having no fault (previously similar issues were put down to the ballast and Iris) they returned it and we have found it still has a fault. They also said if we were to send it back to them with the same fault we would still have the £50 carriage fee. We will probably use them again but we would like a backup. Thanks

Thanks

Thats the thing I really wanted to utilise the case from the TS-209 but its starting to look a bit of a tall order
-
yes I think the i5's and I7's have 2 sata's but im cheap so I was looking at celerons and adding a pcie card. twin--turbo - how'd you mean psu, think iv have to replace the PSU if I changed the mainboard. I was also thinking of getting a board with a fan but operating the fan elsewhere in the case.
-
No it doesn't have to be nano-itx. I have checked out some mini-itx boards which measure 17x17 and they only just fit inside the NAS case, the main issue is height there isnt much room between the bottom of the case and the hard drives and most mini itx have heatsinks (even the fanless ones) I have even thought of using a NUC mainboard or a brix but id have to add a mini PCIe sata to give me two SATA ports and im unsure of how the NUC will like that.

Hi All, I have a QNAP-TS-209 and its great but its a bit old now, and noisy so as i`m tight and never want to part with my hard earned money I got my hacker thinking cap on and was thinking why don't I just replace the main board. So I found the VIA EPIANR10000EG on amazon for £30 which looks like it would do the job, says it would run Linux so hopefully there shouldn't be too many issues. the board doesn't need to be overly powerful as long as I can download and stream of it in at least 720 then im a happy bunny. Iv not had any dealing with these via boards before and just wondered if anyone else had, or if anyone see any potential issues with what i'm planning.

Hi All, I`m currently setting up Xibo for use in one of our primary schools so far its all good. I am looking at 2 things I want to add firstly a nice weather slide (i`m using forecast.io which xibo has a module for but, it looks a bit sparse) and secondly the school uses Twitter heavily so getting the Twitter feed on there would be good. I have got it on using the twitter module but the feed text is quite large and it does look very pretty, is there a way of adusting font size or is there an alternative way of displaying a Twitter feed through Xibo Thanks

I must admit I have only seen people asking for cisco or Microsoft certs in adverts. Network+ maybe a bit of an easier win for me just want to see if im wasting my time with it though
-
it being vendor agnostic is what attracts me to it, but I think the CISCO is a slightly higher profile cert, and i`m thinking if I want to get into cloud based stuff would it really matter which networking cert I have as long long as theres something to give me a good grounding. I maybe completely wrong though so i`m open to suggestions and comments

Hi all, I have been trying to self study for the CCENT for the past year or so I think I have everything I need now got a decent book and video training. Just reading around some forums and alot of people are saying go for the network+ its easier and gives you much the same cert at the end of it. to give you some background iv worked in firstline support in schools for 10 years I REALLY want to get out of support and have been looking at network design and development maybe something cloud based to iv looked into Amazon Webservices. Should I soldier on with the CCENT or take some other cert whatever it maybe

Hi all, We have a couple of machines which our SEN children are using, they are setup so they are not part of the domain but they are linked to the wireless for internet, and they have shortcuts setup so the can get to their home drive and other shared drives. Each machine has a copy of some software called Zoomtext which is basically text to speech and a magnifier, its a client/server program and needs to contact the licensing server every few days or it reverts to a 14 day trial. We have a mapped drive setup so zoomtext just looks in the mapped drive for the file and that's it. however, sometimes when the machine boots I dont think it connects the drives correctly so Zoomtext cant contact its license server, if left it then refuses to see it at all even after disconnecting and reconnecting with fresh login credentials. so, does anyone how we can ensure they drives connect properly and get authenticated on boot up?

Morning All, I have a bit of a strange issue with Flash I have two packages which have SEN materials and use an EXE to open a Flash window to display and run various resources. If i`m logged in as a normal user, the software runs but I just get a minimized flash window, if I expand it its just a blank page. I have put the latest version of flash on and tested it on my PC strangely if I run it as an admin it works fine, as a staff user it doesnt. I have also tried changing the permissions of the folder and even put everyone on Full Control but it still does the same. I`m sure its a permissions issue but, cant find what, any ideas?

Hi All. I have been trying to setup external FTP access to my Dlink DNS 320 NAS for a few months now and have failed each time. I have an account with No-Ip.com and have forwarded port 80 on my sky router to my NAS and I can access the NAS configuration pages with no problem. As this was successful I thought i'd enable to FTP server for external access, so first off I enabled the FTP server and forwarded port 20, 21 on my Sky Router, I found this didn't work and I just got timeout errors. After some reading I found there's a dynamic DNS setup actually on the NAS so under Management-Network Management-Dynamic DNS there's a drop down list for the provider, hostname and username and password I have filled it in with my No-IP account details but it still says its failing to update and obviously I cant FTP into my NAS. I did notice in the dropdown list of providers it says No-IP.DDNS im assuming this is correct? Does anyone have any thoughts on what I can try next?

The distance is the main issue but, the student is eye sight is quite bad so I dont think moving him closer is going to achieve much. maybe simply providing him with the materials that are being shown on the board would be the simplest route.

Hi All, Not sure if there is a solution to this but here goes; We have a visually impaired student who has a laptop from the local authority to use in school, the laptop is connected via the wireless and there are shortcuts setup for access to his user area but the laptop isnt actually on the domain. The visual impairment chap who deals with the laptop and all the software has said that the student is having issues seeing the whiteboard so, to help him he wants to install VNC to connect to the teacher PC, there must be a better way of achieving this other than using VNC, also I dont realy want a VNC client on one of the PC's anyone come accross this?

so I tried it in IDE mode and got the same results, so after complete trial and error I found if I pull the network cable during the first, second, and third restart it then appears to build (I have no idea why)

I have checked the SATA and the laptop and both are SATA 3 although I couldnt find official specs for the laptop, also the SSD has backwards compatibility to SATA2. I checked the BIOS on another laptop and oddly I could change the SATA mode on that machine.

we are using WinPE2.0 but if I build an RM One with a SSD it builds no problem, so it seems to an issue with the combination of SSD and NB14
