While Batman is awesome, even with his gadgets, can he really match Superman?

Yes. He's the goddamn Batman.

And I thought my brain had enough trying to process a Simpsons/Family Guy crossover episode.

I recommend the South Park/Simpons cross-over episode too. And I can name one or two Simpson's episodes with Futurama crossovers... ;)

Edit: Oh, and the South Park/Family Guy mini crossover bit too...

In most of the comic books I have read they are both evenly matched.

Batman is aware of Superman's weakness to kryptonite so once that is in the mix Batman usually comes out on top.

All the kryptonite in world can't save Batman though if he can't to it before Superman's OP powers get to him first though.

I've not read the comic books, but I've read that line as a "Superman Vrs Batman" story? Why would they even fight each other? And if they worked together, why would Superman even need batman?

He lost that a while ago. [Though I think it's back again... I'm not sure. Superman is OP.]

Superman isn't a detective.

And Batman could teach him a lesson if he starts acting like he's better than everyone.

I can't see it working myself, DC has always been a bit too "Friendly" and not gritty enough for me, The Batman films were ok, not brilliant I thought

Too friendly?

They've gone to some really dark places in recent years.

Plus the Superman/Batman comics are brilliant. Not to mention the Animated adaptation of Public Enemies, that was superb!

I'm liking that they seem to be basing parts of this on the Dark Knight Returns somewhat. It's one of my all time favorites :)

Superman isn't a detective.

With super hearing and x-ray vision, he does not need to be.

He also is better then everyone.

He relies too much on his powers (and who wouldn't?) but Batman knows this and always uses it to his advantage.

Except Batman.

And Wolverine/X-23.

And Harley Quinn.

And Catwoman.

And everyone else who earned their strength through hard work and training, and isn't just a Mary Sue alien.

[Can you tell I don't like Superman?]

Also, any magic user is better than Superman. Superman is weak to magic.

I love it when Captain Marvel and Supes fight! He almost always loses!

I did gather that. ;)

I guess my premise comes from seeing Batman and Superman in big screen films and only in a very a small handful of comics. Maybe there is more to it which I've missed from not reading more comics. I just can't get my head around how Batman can wither fight, or work with with Superman.

Can someone clarify, is it "Batman AND Superman" or "Batman Vrs Superman"?

Cap or Supes?

On the side topic of OP superheroes... Molecule man. He took out Sentry while just sitting about having a drink. [sentry is basically Superman.]

I would say Bats & Supes but they'yy have a fight first as they're so different, but then end up working together as they compliment each other loads.

Supes, he's taken more than a few kickings from the Shazam child.

Batman is crazy prepared. If it was a spur of the moment "I'm going to kill Batman" thing, Superman would win. No contest.

But, Batman would have something prepared to take Superman down after the fact.

If it was an organised fight, Batman would probably win. He knows Superman's weaknesses and knows how to exploit them. Though, that's moot if Superman just throws the moon at him...

The last time I went to the cinema was to see Jurassic Park with my son, who was around 6 at the time. He's now 32! Quite simply, there hasn't been a film that took my fancy. However, the trailers for "The Lone Ranger" have whetted my appetite and it's released the day before my birthday, so I'm tempted. :)

So the heroes cross over, what about the enemies? I bet it could be entertaining watching the Joker toy with Superman. :)

Ahh, Owen Reese, the best character development to come out of the Secret Wars saga!

Also, self perpetuating paradox as it was him getting his original "non-OP" Powers that tore the rift between the main Universe and the pocket Universe that the Beyonder came from that started the whole Secret Wars thing in the first place.

This of course all assumes that at some point between the late 80's/early 90's and now they haven't completely retconned that entire sequence of events :)

and back On topic....

Batman and Supes will work in a movie, if they do it right, in the same way that Captain America and "EVERY OTHER MAIN MEMBER OF THE AVENGERS" was made to work. Cap & Hulk/Thor/Iron Man is essentially the same dynamic as Batman & Supes.
