Internet Explorer 10 Group Policy

Hi all,

 

After reading that group policy for IE10 has changed (mainly the group policy ie maintenance settings no longer work) we decided to uplift the domain from 2008 R2 to 2012, basically to give us access to all the new group policy ready for our move to Win 8 etc.

 

But anyway, we've deployed IE10 to a test Windows 7 machine and I'm trying to get the proxy server, homepage etc settings pushed out. Using the suggested new method of using the preferences section and then going into internet settings and making a new setting for IE10. This basically doesn't work.

 

I've deployed this as a user group policy (because its not there as a computer setting) to an OU containing users. When this user logs on RSOP shows that the policy has applied but it makes no difference to IE.

 

Please help!

Hmmm as you say, it should just work with Server 2012. Here's how I get round it with 2008 R2. In theory you can do the same in Server 2012

That's all good and well but group policy has many more settings than in that registry, home page, security settings etc. Group policy settings SHOULD work.

There is a adm template specifically for ie10 I believe. Have you tried importing that into gp?

I've not tried the ADM yet, I shall though thanks.

 

Im really reluctant to use the reg edit fix as I feel like this is going back in time, and theres so many group policy features that are lost if I simply use that reg edit.

 

I find it hard to believe that should a staple product from Microsoft is being forgot about in terms of management....this is really poor Microsoft.

Just checked and because its server 2012 the adm template is already there...

right ok, the group policy preferences DO indeed work perfectly, there's actually no faults at all! It's all down to the green and red underlined bits, it turns out that it matters what colour things are, read Red / Green: GP Preferences doesn

 

especially the coloured related bits!!

Some GP seems to work but I find as long as you document it well, the above piece of software works perfectly.

Ive tried both methods, in that using 2012 and the IEAK. Gone are the days of easily being able to import ADM templates as everything is ADMX these days but it should work just administering from 2012.

Anyone tried the GP templates for IE11 yet?
