It does seem they're not very popular... plus you can't join Windows RT to a Windows Domain, so it's more suited as standalone if there was a decent software library to choose from.

Go to the Windows Store in Windows 8, find an app, click 'Details'. If ARM is listed under Supported Processors then that means the app will also work on Windows RT.

Apparently a new RT with better spec is coming out in the not-too-distant future so this is how MS are trying to shift the old stock. The price point on the offer is pretty much where the RT needs to be anyway for the experience it offers imo.

Does anyone on these forums actually use Workplace? For those that don't know, it's essentially the middle ground between being a member of a domain or a workgroup. Workplace essentially lets you be a member of both or multiple domains by accessing its resources, but not in a full domain lock down way.

We would use them for internet research, taking photos in class, some note taking and if possible (i think you can) print and save to the network. I know it doesnt join the domain but you can map drives?

I don't know for certain, but in theory you should be able to map drives using a bat or vbs script prompting for the domain\username and password of that user. Really though this is a thing of the past which is why Workplace or Domain connected clients that can access GPO created drives is the way forward.

Downside being it uses Windows InTune to set it up, bizarre that you can do it through the cut-down cloud solution but not the hulking on-premise flagship SCCM product (unless I'm missing something?)
