HP Cashback

Normally I have good feelings about HP/Compaq thanks to the quality of their products. It's just why do they have to make claiming on their cash back offers so awkward. It's bad enough that they don't just reduce the price upfront.

 

First you have to send a claim form with proof purchase and then "raise an invoice" before you get they money back. An invoice? But hang on. They're the ones that sold me the computer stuff. What product or service am I invoicing them for?

 

I suppose this make sense to somebody at HP marketing

Yeah we had the same thing when we bought 31 HP PCs - got cashback on the monitors..

Well I am all for it: I recently bought a switch under the scheme, we had been awarded some money from somewhere to develop a little cluster of IT in a particular dept. I bought the switch and did the paperwork, the Bursar raised the invoice of course; and because of the timing, the money came back in the next financial year. The bursar put it straight into my budget - more than doubling it

I just bought 40 laptops, got £1000 cashback. It was dead simple. Just fill in a form send a copy of the invoice and the job's a goodun.

 

We didn't have to raise an invoice - unless that letter's going to hit the Bursar's desk soon. They just said that a cheque made out to the school would be on its way to us.

Yeah, the claim has to be in within 30 days of purchase.

I've got money back a couple of times now, for several extra processors in servers - totalling about £600 and for 6 desktop pc's and their monitors, totalling about £450 IIRC.

 

All we had to do (or I, should I say) is fill in the form and fax it with a copy of the invoice and they send out a cheque within a couple of months. Easy as pie.

The last time I did this, we did have to raise an invoice (probably so they have something to pay against when they send the £50) but that was hardly difficult - especially since our admin finance person did it for me! All it needed to say was "HP Cashback Offer 3432 (or whatever)" at the appropriate price, it doesn't need to be anything fancy. They sent us the cheque within a few weeks.

 

It wasn't all that difficult, and certainly took less than £50 of our man-hours, so I was happy :-)
