Grade E – £23,343 per annum

Hours: 37 hours per week – Full time (52 weeks per year)

Monday to Thursday 8.00am to 4.00pm and Friday 8.00am to 3.30pm

 

Frogmore Community College is seeking to appoint an experienced and well-qualified Network Manager to maintain and develop its IT estate. Required as soon as possible. The successful applicant will:

 

• Lead the IT support team to provide coordinated first-line support for all users of the College IT systems (c.750 users)

• Manage the College network, consisting of a VMware server architecture and full wired and wireless network infrastructure

• Maintain the PC suites and laptops in use to support and enhance teaching and learning

• Support and advise the leadership of the College in setting and achieving its strategic vision for IT

 

This position requires someone who will share our pride in the College and who is a team player but can also show a high degree of initiative.

12 years ago i'd have gone for that. Looks goods for someone currently in a technician role with the talent and potential to quickly ramp up their responsibilities. A stepping-stone role to bigger things.

If the school is happy to continually cycle through new boy after new boy after new boy at the same pay grade, then yes.

 

But I agree that it does look like a nice school and the fact that the NM is allowed/expected to give strategic input is valuable considering that many of us do that anyway, but don't get the recognition for it. Shows some flexibility on the part of the Leadership Team.

 

Le EDIT: It's also worth noting that, as this seems to be a state-maintained community school, pay for associate staff roles is determined through Local Authority job evaluation which means it's (largely, though not totally) out of their hands. I still think that's a problem, but the issue does not lie with the school itself.
