Any experience with Konica Minolta?

Hi all,

 

My Xerox MPS contract is coming to an end so I am shopping around for good low cost managed printer services,

 

Does anyone have any experience with the Konica Minolta C35P range at all?

I have 3 Konica Minolta photocopiers and they have worked fine for ages without any need for me to have a look at them.

 

Currently using Xerox 3560/3570s but they are starting to show there age and are starting to cost me a small fortune every quarter!

Only in that their quote was much more expensive than Sharp and Ricoh.

We went with Sharp, but it was very tight between them an Ricoh. I know lots here use Ricoh direct.

Oh really? That's interesting, KM were mega cheap compared to Xerox.

 

How do you find the Sharp ones? Are you using colour ones in classrooms or just in offices etc?

We use KM at our school, and it's quite good. But I guess Sharp is cheaper, because they want to tap into Education sector.

Ask me in a couple of years - at the beginning of the contract.

MFD's only. No regular printers. In corridors, offices etc. Colour A3.

 

Another local school was also looking at Kyocera and they look particularly competitive.

KM have just won the Swansea CC contract - £1.5million from what I gather. We have 7 KM MFD devices in school and they are very good. We pay rental and click charges. The click charges on the new Swansea contract are amazing.

 

We run it with pCounter from Altman and pCounter Embedded.

 

I like them.

 

We are just getting a 754 maybe a 951.

We use Bizhub (KM) machines leased from a local company. They are good sturdy printers, run just as well as the sharp machines we have. Easy to install and maintain too.

We had some larger Konica Minolta MFDs before we went for a new contract last summer that supplied us with Ricoh MFDs. The Konica Minolta machines were past their useful lifetime by the time I started here, so we constantly had issues with them, although the managed print company did always seem to be able to source parts for them easily enough. The Ricoh machines we now have mostly work fine, but then they should, being less than a year old. There's a fault now with one of the fuser units and it's going to take until mid-June for a replacement part to turn up. On the other hand, Ricoh's office supplies department seems very good - we get our printer paper from them as well as rolls for the laminator and fancy printable-plastic media that gies through the laser prints.

I used Konica Minolta exclusively in my last place. They were really cheap compared to others and basically put the per-page price of everything the same (since we had used their large copiers for years). Service was also excellent with the typical time for an engineer visit being 4 hours despite us only having next day cover.

 

It may be worth mentioning that my contract was direct with Konica Minolta rather than through a third party.

I would stay it depends on your main driver , I have experiences with Ricoh they are very good but seem to be a bit more expensive, You could try Kyocera they seem to be coming along leaps and bounds as there prices are really competitive, but if your not sure I would suggest going to a independent as they can give sound advice to your current situation and wont tie you into only one option just make sure you can get great referrals from them.

Thanks for the feedback everyone, definitely made me think more about putting KMs around instead of Xerox,

 

I can put 25 printers into my rooms and offices for half the annual price of the Xerox printers, bit of a done deal really.

Dont touch them with a barge pole

 

we got a couple on a contract and they were rubbish (the company not the printer)

 

you ring up for a part say faulty fuser unit telling them to bring one with the engineer

 

engineer turns up says oh it needs a fuser it will take 2 days to get one wtf

 

i told you it was a fuser you muppets

 

order toner they say we dont have any in stock it will take 3 days to get some more

 

now i have a huge stock pile of the stuff

 

they are useless

That sounds like our current Xerox contract to be honest.

We've been with Ricoh direct for a few years now, the big copiers are miles better than the Xerox ones we had, their printers are great as well. The only machines which seem a bit fragile are their older MFDs, the newer ones are absolutely fine though, bullet proof so far and that one is in the Library and is by far our highest used MFD.

The service is good, you do sometimes find a slight delay with some items, but they do let you carry a buffer stock so it's not usually a problem.

What I do like with them is that you can lease or buy their equipment and just pay a per click charge, there are no maintenance charges or minimum click counts.

Nothing wrong. All toner are self ordering. Always got 1 or 2 In stock.

 

 

Support are good. Next day if we need them. Or he turns up to firmware updates. Which is good.
