ME, now there was a horrible version of windows.

 

Wasn't anywhere near as stable as Windows 2000 even if it had visual similarities. If anything was slightly locked down and dubiously patched version of Win98SE. Seem to recall it had no support for any of your 16 bit applications and immediately caused problems with some of your existing 32 bit apps. This was in the name of being a purely 32 bit home operating system.

 

I believe its death was fairly swift due to a version of direct X being developed for Windows 2000, of which meant gamers and enthusiasts moved over pretty quickly.

never had a problem with it myself, didn't mind Vista for home use and now I am on 8 I hate going back to the start menu. Not even trolling.... bring back ME !
