Following this thread. I've got an 1810-48G in service that likes to randomly dropped ports as well. Updated to latest publicly available FW about a month ago but the issue persists. Going to contact HP support for FW 1.21 as per kestrel1's suggestion. I hope this issue can be resolved as the price and features are right and I would like to use this switch elsewhere, but I'm hesitant after the experience we've had with it.

Ohhh my god,

1 from many of V1810-48G at my office is death last day at 3 PM after his service for about 3 years. I hope his Lifetime warranty will assist.

HP should be able to help.

I expect HP will swap it out for you. We had a similar issue a few years back with a Netgear switch that was about 4 years old I think. Netgear swapped it out with a better switch, as the one we had was end of life :D

Just a small update on our switches, at present everything seems to be OK with these switches so finger crossed that they continue that way. Just need to sort out our major issue with the servers now :ohwell:

To anyone that is still having this issue, there does seem to be a known problem:

HP Support document - HP Support Center

We are experiencing this issue ourselves with 14 of these switches. We have contacted HP & they have sent us a new firmware version that is mentioned in the above post.

This firmware is not available on the HP website at present, so you will need to contact HP to get this firmware until they decide to release it.

We have yet to apply this firmware, but will be doing this at 4pm today :D

Thanks Kestrel1. I've talked to HP support and got the new firmware without too much flaffing about. Applying to a couple of switches over the weekend to see if that'll help...!

Hi everyone, just wondering how anyone has got on with the update for the switch as we are still on PK.1.18 and having issues. Is anyone prepared to send me a link via a PM so I can try the new version?

Thanks

My bad.

Since updating these switches to the version that HP sent, we haven't had any issues where we would have to reboot the switch.

If anyone would like the STK file, PM me. I am sure HP will make it available soon.

Only thing I have noticed is that NTP doesn't seem to work with this version. I booted one switch with an older version first and updated the time, when I rebooted with the new firmware the time was OK. Maybe something they will fix in the next firmware.

When you update the code does hung on the "Code download through HTTP is in progress. Please wait ..."

Tries to access the HTTP console from specific devices, the result is. The switch has not yet rebooted been waiting for 4 hours.

What do I do not know, wait another or reboot the switch.

On our switches it took a matter of minutes to update the firmware. You might need to reboot the switch. I have had this happen on some WAP's before and on rebooting they have the firmware installed and work fine.

I hope that after the switch reboots everything will be fine.

If not, you have a lifetime guarantee on HP switches. They are also capable of booting from one of two firmwares. Edited by kestrel1

What I normally do is update the inactive firmware. Reboot the switch, then make the new firmware as the active and reboot.

Glad it is working though.

Just send you a PM kestrel1 , to try the PK1.21

I have also the problem that many ports loose connection for 3 seconds and then get the connection back (same on all my four switches)

Should help the firmware PK.1.21

I really hope that, because that generates a serious problem for us

This creates a problem for all of us :) But judging by the reviews firmware helps, although we only test.

Thanks kestrel1 for the firmware. I have updated my switches with PK1.21, I'll report back if there is any problems encountered.

BTW SNTP does work with the PK1.21 firmware, you need to unselect SNTP, click apply and then reenable SNTP with the same settings.
