Anybody recommend a 5.1 surround system?

Looking to get a new 5.1 surround system at home to replace the rubbish usb speakers i've been putting up with. Could probably stretch to about £100?

 

So far have looked at

 

Creative Inspire T6160 Speaker System

 

Xenta 5.1 Surround Sound Speaker System

 

Genius SW-N5.1 1000W Speakers - Black

 

Any body got any of these? or any other alternatives?

 

Looking for something that has a good sounding bass to it but can be pushed without sound to tinny or distorted

I got a logitech set about 5 years ago and they are solid still. I cant remember what model it is but im sure they are discountinued. But have a look at logitechs kit as it hasnt died for me yet.

For that money I'd be looking at a nicer 2.1 over a lower end 5.1 ...of course that's just my opinion

 

I'm always shocked by how good the Harmon Kardon soundsticks are whenever I hear them (~6 of my friends have them, I've not bought them myself yet) - that little sub is a thumper, and the towers are fantastic sounding.

I looked at those and couldnt decide whether I liked them or not might have to make a trip to PC world or somewhere similiar to have a look

In that case, I would be thinking these might not be up to the task for TV use and maybe overkill for computer, just my thoughts. I have a lovely 2.1 Logitech on my computer that does exactly what I need it to do, but when connected to the TV the bass takes over (yes this can be adjusted but does not help)

Cheers! I'm not to fuss about it being overkill for a pc used to have it hooked up to custom made 6ft cab with 4 x 10" and 1 x 18" absolute monster of a thing

I was just about to post this same thread!

 

One of my friends has tasked me to provide him a complete home entertainment package for a grand - 42" telly, PC with TV recording, and surround sound. The remaining budget allows for something around £90 for a 5.1 system, though anything better value than that lets me invest more in the PC.

 

Ideally I want something with a separate amp, so more than just the PC can be plugged in (would be nice to have the TV connected directly, and I suspect brother-in-law will take his Xbox over). I'm not sure a good 5.1 system can be had at that price though, so worthy 2.1 systems would be welcome as well.

 

I know bugger all about sound systems so any and all help appreciated

I too have been looking at them, mostly because my last two flat screen tvs have had crap sound but also because the F1 is in 5.1 surround. But, I want a wireless rear speaker system and the cost of these is still too high for what I want

And a few rca's

 

Over 600watts of power. Great for movies.

it all depends on what you want them for i have a samsung 5.1 system for when im watching a film on a projector,

corsair 1500 7.1 gaming headset for games and skype

and a ozone strata 5.1 headset for films on screen/media editing and lp recording
