fiza Posted April 24, 2013 Posted April 24, 2013 I had KMS working fine on a server and then decided (for various reasons) that I wanted to move it. I followed How to remove a KMS Server from your infrastructure | RiVNet to remove the service and then followed PeteNetLive - KB0000582 - Using KMS Server For Windows Server 2008 R2, Windows 7, and Office 2010 to install it on my new server I am only activating servers at the moment but when I try to activate a server I get : Error : 0xC004F074 The software Licencing Service reported that the computer could not be activated. The Key Management (KMS) is unavailable. When I go on the KMS Server and type slmgr.vbs /dli I get : Total requests received : 1 Failed requests received : 1 Any ideas? Have I missed a step?
fiza Posted April 24, 2013 Author Posted April 24, 2013 BTW - both servers are 2008 R2 SP1. Firewall has KMS exception enabled.
CHR1S Posted April 24, 2013 Posted April 24, 2013 Have you reached the 5 server threshold for activation?
TronXP Posted April 24, 2013 Posted April 24, 2013 have you checked that the dns entries for the old server are gone and that new ones have been setup for your new server
fiza Posted April 24, 2013 Author Posted April 24, 2013 Have you reached the 5 server threshold for activation? Yes - a couple have activated. The main one I am having difficulty with is the original KMS host. It is DataCenter version if that makes any difference? I made sure I removed KMS Host from it and re applied a KMS Client key to it as per the instructions I used referenced above. have you checked that the dns entries for the old server are gone and that new ones have been setup for your new server In DNS it shows as the new server. On the client server when I run "nslookup -type=srv _vlmcs._tcp" It shows the new KMS server.
