Stars are awarded at (n*3000)+100 rep.

2 bronze is 6100, 3 is 9100 and so on.

Silver represents 5, 9, 12 and 14 stars

Gold is 15, something, something, darkside stars.

You have 1 bronze and a full bar, so you have between 6000 - 6099 rep. Not much to go for your second star. [if I've worked out the limits properly... which judging from this thread I haven't.]

Le EDIT: Yup... that isn't right.

6000 - 6299 [i think]

Well, I would give you some rep but I need sweeties and none have arrived :(

The sweeties are being stockpiled for a big mail-out when we take the placeholder page down and launch the new website. This is very close, so you won't have to wait much longer.

Or you tell a lot of very silly jokes :)

Do we get black stars? ;)

No.

I tried "Platinum", "Plat", "White" and "Black" when I found the gold star. [i also tried "Lonestar"...]

I don't think the admins want to reward bad behaviour too much.

@ZeroHour I don't want the answer. But, am I on the right track? [i know it's currently not right.]

Le EDIT: wait... I AM sort of right. Dots shown aren't what you HAVE, they're what you're working on.

I'm on 11, 705 so I'm working toward the last dot before I get a 4th star at 12,000. Each gold is 300 so I should have 295 more to go. [Possibly 296 if you need to be working on the next set of dots for the star to show.]

I was going to check it, but I thought a red star would be too much like he bronze one.

Oh... I was actually pretty close.

You get gold for breaking 45k rep. [i originally guessed 48k.]

Gray - 0

1lg - 100

2lg - 200

3lg - 300

4lg - 400

5lg - 500

1dg - 700

2dg - 900

3dg - 1100

4dg - 1300

5dg - 1500

1gd - 1800

2gd - 2100

3gd - 2400

4gd - 2700

5gd - 3000

1b - 3100

2b - 6100

3b - 9100

4b - 12100

1s - 15100

18100

21100

24100

2s - 27100

30100

33100

3s - 36100

39100

4s - 42100

1g - 45100

The numbers are the upper limit for that representation. E.G - 1b is actually 3001 - 3100

Now, I'm off to lunch... I may work it out properly later.

Someone has FAR too much free time I think we need to work this guy harder!

Work smart, not hard.

:p

Plus, I was working on this problem during lunch. Lunch is MY time, so I can legitimately spend it working on math problems. [Or playing MH3U when I finally get my copy...]

Also, you think I'm spending too much time on this... Wait until I've cracked it.

I'm going to take a stab at working out the relationship between rep points and rep power. [i know it's something to do with join date, posts and rep points. Perhaps also the "thanked x times in y posts"]

I vaguely recall ZH saying many moons ago, that the calculations didn't only involve the rep you received, but they also involved the length of time that you had been posting.

I know, that's why I'm including the join date as a variable.

I can hear ZH chuckling over this thread from the other side of the country! Just remember to ask for commission when you've worked out a more elegant solution to the formula he's actualy using ;)

Saying that, I had a thought along those lines yesterday.

Either I'm going to work it out and it's a lot more complex than it needs to be or it'll end up far more simple.

Or equally complex, just different.
