Morning all,

 

Over the weekend I saw a pretty good deal at 3 for this phone, and as I'm just 10 days away from an upgrade I thought I would find out more.

 

Turns out it's £35pm on Pre-order, with no up-front cost. Sounds like a decent price, so agreed to go in and pre-order. Phoned O2 to let them know that I would be leaving and hey presto, they match the deal.

 

Phone arrives on 26th!

Sounds like a good deal considering the total cost is about £850 quid over the 2 years.

 

You could buy the phone then get a giff gaff or 02 PAYG sim for a tenner a month. And then not tied into any contract.

I just phoned 202 from my current phone, and started chatting. Said that I wanted to buy out my contract to go to 3, and the bloke was most insistent that I listened to what he had to say first! I kinda thought that that would happen anyway....so it WAS just a leverage tactic, but I think I did make it seem as if I was genuinely leaving at THAT moment.

 

I never play my hand before I have to, in these situations. I always tell them that the offer I've had probably won't get matched, so I'm offski...Never ask them to match the quote!

 

He did say that LOADS of people were phoning with that same 3 deal, so that's why he was ready to sort it straight away!

Maybe it was the person you got on the day? My wife will be trying the same tactic in about 2 months time!

Yep yep it is. Would like to go back to 02 as there network so far seems better. See what there 4g is like etc

I've never had a problem with coverage with O2, and so I was a bit worried about going to 3 because I'm sure that their coverage is a bit less than O2.

 

Really happy that O2 have done this though....Now can't wait for next friday (26th) and getting it delivered to work.

 

Hope to make my iShiney friends a little bit jealous!!!!

Who do you trust?

 

Last week, I had a right pain in the rear when I couldn't change the delivery address with O2. What a 'mare they are! Anyway, after cancelling my order, and re-doing the pre-order for the new delivery address everything seems set fair for a friday delivery at work.

 

Now....Here's the thing....

 

I read on Techradar, the other day, that Samsung have told them that the delivery will slip back to the Saturday, as they want to release simultaneously around the world....This would give me a problem as I would then have to change delivery address AGAIN!

 

However, when I contacted O2 on twitter, they assured me that there are no plans to change the delivery date for their phones.....

 

So, the question is....Who would YOU believe?

 

(If O2 feck this up, I am gonna be very unhappy with them!!)

Well I got all excited last night when DPD sent me confirmation of delivery of my S4 for today. Tracked it this morning and its at my local depot in Newcastle. I live on the south coast. Only 350 miles off where it needs to be. As you may expect I'm not getting it today now . Phoned DPD and to be fair to them they were very helpful and apologetic and have booked it for a redelivery tomorrow (Saturday) morning. Just have to hope that someone doesn't decide that since its marked M-F delivery to ignore the Saturday delivery request that the barcode is giving them!!

It's true that there are two S4's* - the GT-i9500 (Exynos 5 Octa) and GT-i9505 (SnapDragon 600). The UK gets the slower and less power efficient SnapDragon model.

 

* Three if you include the Korea only model.

On this point....

 

When I made my upgrade call, the O2 guy tried to tell me that I would be getting the Octa-core model. I did explain that only the quads were coming to Blighty, but he seemed oblivious to this point!

 

I AM expecting a quad core, so if he IS right, I'll be amazed!!

Well, I have hd it for about 20 mins....

 

Coming from the Galaxy S....This is a beautiful phone!

Well that's not very good I'm sure I'd never fully use the octa-core but it'd be good to have it for the geek value to be honest... I'll give it a few months and maybe order one from Korea

Mine arrived on Saturday, and having had iOS devices for the last 4 years I'm still getting used to the flexability! Liking the huge screen though. My iPhone 4S feels tiny in comparison now.
