VeryPC_Tom_M Posted March 26, 2013 Posted March 26, 2013 *wonders if anyone's mentioned Bullfrog's Syndicate (and American Revolt)* That game ate loads of my time, both on the PC and on the Amiga
ICTDirect_Dave Posted March 26, 2013 Posted March 26, 2013 *wonders if anyone's mentioned Bullfrog's Syndicate (and American Revolt)* That game ate loads of my time, both on the PC and on the Amiga Syndicate!! Ahhh Loved that on my Amiga! btw: who wants one of these? Commodore USA
VeryPC_Tom_M Posted March 26, 2013 Posted March 26, 2013 btw: who wants one of these? Commodore USA *sighs* If only it could fit an Nvidia Titan!
ICTDirect_Dave Posted March 26, 2013 Posted March 26, 2013 If only... You could have all the games running at 10,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 FPS I guess.
VeryPC_Tom_M Posted March 26, 2013 Posted March 26, 2013 you've crushed my dreams of Crysis 3 on a C64-pc Dave

ICTDirect_Dave Posted March 26, 2013 Posted March 26, 2013 you've crushed my dreams of Crysis 3 on a C64-pc Dave Keep the faith! I never would've believed it possible to play Wipeout 2097 on an Amiga 1200... Even though the human eye can see 60fps max Yeah but... bigger numbers is better right?
localzuk Posted March 26, 2013 Posted March 26, 2013 Even though the human eye can see 60fps max Not strictly true - the human eye can see a varying FPS, as it doesn't see 'frames'. It varies according to light conditions, the individual, what they're looking at etc... I've seen someone say that if you were to convert it to FPS you're talking more than 120FPS minimum.
Sunnyknight Posted March 26, 2013 Author Posted March 26, 2013 Yeah but... bigger numbers is better right? Haha, too true Except when you get your electric bill Not strictly true - the human eye can see a varying FPS, as it doesn't see 'frames'. It varies according to light conditions, the individual, what they're looking at etc... I've seen someone say that if you were to convert it to FPS you're talking more than 120FPS minimum. You can see a flash @ 220fps, but that's about it. Realistically, hardly anyone can tell the difference above 60fps, some people say we can't tell the difference above 30fps, but that's a load of codswallop in my opinion. . However, there are a select few who 'claim' to be able to see @ 100fps with a noticeable difference. Claim being the key word. :focus:
aerospacemango Posted March 26, 2013 Posted March 26, 2013 Ok....Back on topic.... If I'm to be stranded on a desert island....with no wife and only a PC and plenty of food and drink.... It would have to be.... Football Manager! That game could keep me sane, as I'd be able to play it forever, AND have the time to play it!!
Sunnyknight Posted March 26, 2013 Author Posted March 26, 2013 Football Manager! That game could keep me sane, as I'd be able to play it forever, AND have the time to play it!! What lol I can picture someone playing it on a pc, then building sand footballers and commanding them 1 at a time. Saddening as this sounds, that'd be fricking awesome! lol

I'd Take Alpha Centauri with the Alien Corssfire Expansion. Being able to design my own units makes it a winner for me. Still IMHO the greatest of Sid Mier's Civ games

tmcd35 Posted March 26, 2013 Posted March 26, 2013 Populous. Of course, the other "desert island game" would be Journey...
Mako Posted March 26, 2013 Posted March 26, 2013 Of course, the other "desert island game" would be Journey... That a recent one? I played Populous I and II on my old Atari ST. I remember I was 8 or 9 when Populous 3 came out, and was so excited for it but disappointed at the change from the genre-defining prequels. With 999 possible levels in its bank, I never did beat it. The game started to get stupidly hard, which was more than my little mind could cope with. Never stopped me playing, though.
aerospacemango Posted March 26, 2013 Posted March 26, 2013 Just had my memory jogged on another tread.... But, if it WAS a desert island, and they could only leave me with an Amiga 1200....Could I take "The Settlers" please???
Mako Posted March 26, 2013 Posted March 26, 2013 Could I take "The Settlers" please??? Classic indeed. When I get bored of GW2, BG:EE, FTL, DayZ etc I fire up DosBox and play Settlers II. I've actually made it to the last level, something I couldn't achieve as a youngster.
