Just because it is running OS X and is in a fancy box, doesn't make it any less of a computer. What even is a computer today? A Laptop, Netbook, Tablet, Mobile Phone, MP3 Player, Calculator are all devices capable of performing computations, technically making them computers. MAC, or PC; its all a computer.

Nope, that's an eMac, not an iMac... I remember those things being put into my secondary school. Replacing the Performa 5200s and 5300s we had. Those were the days...

Back in the days when I was a Pharmaceutical Analyst [when Windows 3 was all shiny and new] I was often called upon to help with computer based problems. One occasion I recall is trying to explain to a novice computer user how to use a mouse. She was an Indian lady [and so there was a language barrier] of around 60 [and here there was a lack of confidence with IT]

 

I was going about my task of explaining the mouse without looking at her or her computer [i was reading some notes relating to my own experiment elsewhere in the lab]

 

Unfortunately I used the phrase "...now move the mouse up..." When she said it wasn't working I looked up and saw that she had lifted the mouse off the desk. I have since seen this scenario described on the web many times happening to others but it still makes me smile to recall it 20 years on.

If a screen has been rotated and logged off so you need to log back on to put it back, then rotating the mouse makes it easier to position the cursor.

 

I heard a story about a tech support guy being called because the cursor hadn't reached its destination and the mouse was at the edge of the mouse mat.

A friend of mine in the late 80's was asked to train some top level city lawyers in IT. They had to leave the room for a moment and when they came back found the said lawyers arms stretched out with the mice at the end of the desk.
