WanderingWolf Posted March 1, 2013 Posted March 1, 2013 Hi there, been a lurker here on edugeek since it was suggested to me when I started at this job last academic year as it's my first school IT, I'm looking into a streaming media server for the school, to store and stream media across the school. Now avoiding all legal/copyright whatnot (not my area, that's up to the people who make the decisions, not the lowly IT Tech :-) ), I'm currently trying to find a media server software preferably open source that could be used for what we're after. If it was to be able to use AD for permissions and things, even better. I've done hunting and come up with nothing, so I'm appealing to the many users of the find island of Edugeek to help with any points in the right direction etc? thanks!
Netwacky87 Posted March 1, 2013 Posted March 1, 2013 I once tried this Open Source Web Gallery For Photos, Video, Audio, and Documents seemed to work well at the time
tmcd35 Posted March 1, 2013 Posted March 1, 2013 I've been toying with this myself on and off lately. We'll probably not set anything up here, for various reasons, but the best solution I found was Plex: Plex - A Complete Media Solution
Sylv3r Posted March 1, 2013 Posted March 1, 2013 We just use the Microsoft Streaming Services on Windows 2008
