Edit - it's difficult to tell the exact type needed! Do you not have a similar unit with the lamp still inside?

Hold the doffing! A measurement with a micrometer or similar may help to get the exact model, the pin spacing differs like so:

Bi-Pin Bases have two contact points which protrude from the base. The diameter of a Bi-Pin base is measured as the distance in millimeters between the two pins. For instance, a GY6.25 base has a distance of 6.25mm between the two pins.

I've literally been handed the thing and asked to source a bulb. Cant say i turned it over....blushes. Cheapest/best supplier?

Yeah I'd not max it out, 650W is sooo much juice, only fit that if you really need to (IMO). Go for long-life if possible. Blue Aran will be one of the cheapest suppliers, they're decent in my experience.

Blue Aran are OK, but if you want several, I'd try Mico, 10 out of 10, or Specialist Lamp Distributors. <£10 is a reasonable price for one-off.

I'd have gone with a 650w T26/27, in fact I've never actually seen a quartet use a 500w T25! 650w really isn't that much power - if you have any ambient light I'd say that was the minimum you should use, 500w will disappear especially if you use any colour with it.

Used to have a bunch of those lamps, I thought they had been given away ( along with 5 DMX dimmers! and some other gr8 lamps) as he thought they were not needed..

 

I have been told though that they have actual been found in one of our storage facilities, although possibly damp.
